Need Help ASAP -- Hydraulic Fitting Size?

I wouldn't worry much about the corrosion; these only seal on the bevel part, so it's pretty easy for rainwater to get to the threads - I've cleaned dozens of JIC's up with a fine wire brush on the threads, shined up the bevel with gray scotchbrite, they never leak. If it sits out in the rain a lot, maybe dab a little never-sneeze on the threads when reassembling.

The bevel on that one looks a LOT like a 45, but I'd take that fitting with you if you're gonna get some hoses made, kind of a spendy mistake if you're wrong - also, if you can't find a protractor you could slip a round rod into the hole on the male end (as snug a fit as possible), then hold the square end of a ruler against the bevel so that the length of the ruler runs toward the far end of the inserted rod - if you can hold all that steady, then for every inch you get from the fitting, the ruler whose end is against the bevel should be an inch further from the inserted rod. It's just like roofing; a 12/12 pitch is 45 degrees.

BTW, a 37 degree angle is almost exactly 9/12 pitch - so there's a little "wiggle room" in this endeavor and STILL probably get it right... Steve

Blow up the pic and take a closer look please. Is the seat cut wrong or are my eyes getting worse?

it does look odd, like a threadsert was used on the threads, and it came out partially with the fitting, else it's from a thread stripping from whatever it was connected to. the seat looks good though..

That DOES look like most of a helicoil, I hadn't blown it up before - if it were mine, I'd hope that whatever that screws into is ALSO replaceable - also when looking at it enlarged, I'd say it's JIC ... Steve

Hydraulic store confirmed. It is JIC. They found me an adapter that should work.

I think the threads are just dirty. This is the stock fitting that came on the FEL.

The threads are fine. It's just a bad picture.

I got it all hooked up and its working -- mostly. I'm going to start a new topic since this one is going off the rails. Thanks to everyone that helped me figure out what fittings I needed!
