Time to convert from small engine to battery tools?

Battery powered chain saws are nice for small jobs but the battery life is too short right now to replace the gas saw and sawing larger trees the bars are to short, that will probably change in the future. It is nice not to have to deal with mixing gas, the noise and easy to start.

yep I know. my guess is the trends will just accelerate. In my case, between my Makita cordless chainsaw and Remington corded pole saw, I have not touched my Husqvarna gas saw in almost two years.

I'm figuring I will sell off my Stihl gassers at some point soon after I confirm these battery powered ones give me the oomph I need. They should get a decent price and and help soften the blow moving to a battery system.

you might want to keep the gassers for large jobs. i love my battery stuff but to get my whole yard takes a couple hours at a time and for occasional large trees i need my gas equipment but dont use them much at all.

Yeah each battery tool will have to win the job convincingly before the gasser kicked off the team.

I was thinking the same thing. Great for cleaning up downed branches, pruning, etc. Cutting firewood or other big jobs not so much.

I buy the premixed, ethanol free cans from the big box store for all my 2 strokes. ATVs on the other hand I知 always having carb problems, even with Stabil. You can find the occasional ethanol free gas stations occasionally here in the US, but they are definitely few and far between.
They're getting to be more and more common here. There are at least 5 within 50 miles of me and I am usually near one of them over the course of a week.

Just limbed two fallen old oaks... some limbs up to 12" dia... the battery never quit and I did what I needed to do...

That said it simply can't replace a larger gas saw... the pico chain and small bar and revs are limiting... but, it never quit and was very quiet... looks like I will not be getting rid of my gas saws... just won't be using them as much.

The new pro top handle battery saw might be good... I had climbed up about 14' limbing branches with one hand... is was a little awkward because of the safety interlock... and the saw I am sure is heavier than my top handle Echo...
