Rob - THANK YOU. I just got off a call to the Chrysler dealer. There is no way they are authorized to make any adjustments to the TPM system. It is SET and, as the service manager said, is a REAL JOY to all those with a TPM system. The ONLY thing I can do - get irritated.

I have the same situation on the steering wheel. The up/down arrow will take me thru six different programs - one is the TPM system. If it's only a small red ! on the dash, I can live with that. I had visions of the mighty Power Wagon dual horns blaring at two second intervals - forever.

As soon as it quits raining I will go out - drop one tire to 50 psi and see what happens.

I laughed when I read about someone ragging on you in the parking lot about tearing up the country.. had a Prius owner approach me at the gas pumps back when I first got my 2011 truck.. I had done some research and with the battery manufacturing, the Prius has a bigger carbon footprint than my truck. I shared with them that I had to buy my truck to offset the carbon footprint of the Prius.. I explained that I only drive my truck when I need a truck (such as towing or hauling). The poor guy was red faced and quickly finished up and left.

They do it at the dealer on my Sierra.

Not disputing that, but on the Rams they took away that capability even from dealers with some model year prior to 2017. I think it might have been all the way back to 2014.

Yeah, I think you'll find it is not difficult to live with.

It can be done, it is not a simple thing but it's not to bad;
Ram TPMS (tire pressure) change for 13$ with obdlink mx and obd alpha - YouTube

And this chart has the tire pressure to load capacity chart,
even at 35 PSI LT285/70R17-D has a capacity of 2105# each or 4200 per axle;
http://www.rambodybuilder.com/2006/docs/intro/tirecharts.pdf

I am running a 245/75R17 D tire at 54 PSI in the front and 50PSI in the rear empty, loaded or pulling a trailer I will bring the rears up, I usually dont bother changing the fronts.

That's great to know. I'm not sure it is worth $130 to me since I've learned to live with it but I'm happy someone came up with a way to handle the thresholds

ETA: Looks like that OBD adapter is only $65 now...

Thanks,
Rob

Hawkeye08 - that's good. I will remember that. Problem around here - there may be only 1 or 2 Prius in this area. I'd have to go into Spokane to see many more. Believe me - given the opportunity - I will DEFINITELY advise the Prius owner.

There are a couple of software apps that some RAM owners may be interested in;

one of which is the alfaobd lots of info here,
Official Alfaobd thread

the other is, appcar-diagfca, more info here;
BCM Programming

Both of these allow owners to get into the body control computers and do things that RAM tries to keep from us,
as well as the normal diagnostics and sensor reads and CEL resets.

I just had a feeling this would happen. Man, it's one cold morning here.

So from the ground to the instep in the center of the bumper - 26"

From the ground to the tail gate - 38"

For those who suggest stepping up on the bumper and OVER the tail gate. Your foot has never slipped on the snow/ice on your bumper - has it.

------------------------------------------------
No it hasn't, Get very little snow/ice here and when we do, I don't get out in it :D.

Hard to believe my Laramie Sport sits higher than your PW. But my truck's measurements are: 28.5" to the bumper center 'step' and 40" to the rear of the tailgate.

Rob
Yep that is surprising. I just measured my wife's 2016 Ram Laramie Longhorn and it is the same as yours, 2" higher than the Power Wagon.

The BedStep is visible on the left:

Looks like I need to clean the camera lens :eek:.

It is 19" to the BedStep in the down position:

I pulled the PW over by the work shed. Lowered one tire to 50 psi. Just like Rob said - the tire pressure "picture" showed on one of the digital displays. It showed that tire with low pressure. I tabbed the scroll button - moved to the MPH display - only have little red ! on the display.

BTW - with the PW on level ground. 30" to instep in rear bumper, 36" to the flat of the bumper, 42" to the lowered tail gate.

Just like the BMW motorcycle. It showed the tire with low pressure. It only shows that the pressure is low - but not how low. You have to drive a short distance before it can tell you HOW low it is.
