I had to replace cracked exhaust manifolds. I didn稚 break any bolts but they must致e been off before because they had 2 bolts already broke. I drilled them and tried to use an easy out. I broke an easy out one and the other wouldn稚 come. I didn稚 feel like pulling the head off for further work so I just mounted it with 6 bolts.
Have you tried a left hand drill bit?
I pretty much gave up using easy outs a long time ago, because they often break, leaving an even worse problem.
A left hand bit (using the largest size possible without damaging threads) will heat the remainder of the bolt thread, as it also tries to back it out, and will often remove the bolt without even needing to use an easy out.
I have a complete set of left hand bits to 1/2"
