Any body running wheel spacers in their GC 17XX series SCUT... I am considering 2 inch spacer and was wondering if the investment is worth it and how much did it increase stability of tractor on uneven ground.... I am already running about 500 lbs rear ballast but that may have to come off if I put on rear mower or box blade/scraper... NOT really interested in filling rear tires for ballast at this point...

Running 3" spacers on a tc29d dished out turfs filled with beet juice and 1,000 lb counter weight. Very hilly property. Totally different tractor . Much more stable and planted feel. Can't see why it wouldn't do the same for any tractor.:drink:

3” Spacers from brotek will change everything. Incredible difference, so surely 2” would make a pretty good difference too. These machines are too narrow and top heavy for hilly properties. That being said, they’re perfect for hilly properties with the right width on the rear tires. If you have a belly mower, then I hear 2” is the maximum for rear tire spacing on the GC, but if not gonfor 3”!

Wakeshredder is spot on. I got 6" Brotek spacers for a Kubota B2150 (for use on a hilly old farm in WV) and it went from very UNSAFE to very SAFE for operation on a 40% slope. That said, shredder is also correct about watching out for belly mower compatibility. I don't own a GC series machine but I suspect there are limitations on how far the wheels/tires can go outward before the deck interferes with the rear tires. You should be able to just look at it and tell. Exactly HOW MUCH interference and how to devise a work-around is a different story. Right this moment I have my Kubota B2150 deck in a welding shop modifying the rear deck wheel mounts so they will clear my tires. In my case that was low priority (because I had shifted to using a 5ft hog for cutting and the midmount deck was idle for a while.) BY THE WAY, the other guys apparently have experience but I am skeptical that 2" spacers would make much of a difference. That's only 4" more rear tire separation. In my case adding a full foot of spacing made a huge difference but 4 inches ? I'm skeptical. As the little old lady said while peeing in the ocean, every little bit helps.

Bro-Tek only makes up to 3 inch for GC 17xx series, by their ad......

OK, I assume they have reasons for that. My Kubota B2150 is a 24hp 4wd tractor not much different in weight or size from the GC1700 series ( and I use a 6" spacer on each side.) Another VERY pertinent issue is "How much can the stock wheels be put out wider on the GC17xx series?" (by wheel reversal, changed mounting, etc. like larger tractors.) That amount, if any, would be additive to the accessory spacers for total available width. In the case of my Kubota the answer to that question is zero. Also, companies other than Brotek may make wider spacers for the GC17XX machines. Potentially Brotek may see demand for spacers beyond 3" on GC17XX machines as so small they are unwilling to invest the up front setup expenses for offering the wider product. Who knows.

Note: my application for the Kubota B2150 is in a hilly farm situation where the "front lawn" is over an acre and has 40% slope in places. This may be VERY DIFFERENT from the guy's application using the GC17XX. Thus a 2" spacer on each side may make a really effective improvement for him where it would not for me. "The wider the better" but of course there are constraints!

I have a GC1720 with a 2326 drive-over mower and I have the Bro-Tek 2-inch rear spacers. What has been said is correct - if you have a Mid-Mount Mower (MMM) then 2 inches is the max because any wider and the rear wheels will interfere with the MMM casters. That 2 inches doesn't sound like much, but it provides just enough 'comfort' when traversing a side slope that you won't be puckering into the seat. The spacers allow me to vary my mowing pattern from one session to the next. Don't be over confident though, if you drop into a hole or travel with the FEL too high, you can still roll down a slope.

I think the 17** series rear wheels are the same as the 26**. I used 2" wheel spacers from a Ford Ranger on mine. They have been on it for over four years and I havent had a single issue. They are way cheaper at parts stores than from Bro-tek. I think I paid $50 for the set.
