That's for sure, I have driven 1/2 tons, 3/4 tons and 1 tons Maine NH and MA and 3/4 ton up is plain miserable..

I have 10 ply tires on both of my pickups because I got tired of having flats on the gravel roads I travel. That in itself makes for a harsher ride.
For a toy I had a "heavy half ton" 87 GMC. There are places on the highway to my town when in springtime you don't want to be travelling more than 10 mph. That truck rode so hard that my dog finally refused to get into it... and this was a pup who traveled well over a half million miles with me.

The frost here is brutal, you will catch air at normal speed from Feb-April.. It will wreck your vehicle in short order..

First of all, you don't have to spend 40K to get a NEW decent equipped 1/2 ton...

Secondly, you do get 5 to 10K back when you sell it, even with high millage...

I just kept my older HD truck and bought a new 1/2 ton, so for the once in a great while I need a HD pu, I have one around to do that job.

Some of the roads here in FEB-APRIL when the frost is coming out of the ground are brutal, I drive 12 miles around some of them, if you drive a car down them you will tear the bottom off of the car.

In the summer a 3/4 ton truck rides pretty well but come winter you want IFS around here..

I run a blade maintaining 50 miles of gravel roads. I intimately know frosted roads.

I didn't either. But several are telling me they can't imagine daily driving a truck that only gets 15mpg. That's definitely about money.

Were you one of those guys? Can't remember because the waters are getting very cloudy by those justifying their path.

My F250 and 350 didn't ride to bad because of the weight of the diesel but I bought a 6.2 gasser in 2012, that thing rode like a buck board..

Yes, I said that and it's true... My daily driver pu is a wheel barrow truck (read Colorado) and going from 22 to 24 down to 15 is out of the question!!

Like all of my tools, I use what ever "tool" is best for "that" job... I just don't always sell an old tool, to get a new tool.

MY reference wasn't I needed a new pu because of gas milage or to save money on gas, it was/is, IF I'm buying a new pu, it's NOT going to be a gas guzzler for a ----------> daily driver pu!

Maybe I'm old school Owning 460's all my life but I was happy with my 01 7.3 getting 12 mpg as a daily driver. Crew cab dualy . I do about 100 miles a day. My son drives my v10 daily that gets maybe 10 mpg. He does about 60 miles a day. My wife excursion is our economizer that gets around 18 mpg. I might spend a lot in diesel but I haven't had a payment in 15 years.:dance1::cool2::drink:
