It came that way. It is needed with the front castor wheel.

But I can also curl up and keep the front wheel up off of the ground if necessary .

That's what I like about my brush cutter on the FEL arms of my PT425. The cutter has two casters out front and two fixed wheels on the back. I can leave the FEL arms in float and the deck will follow the terrain, or I can lift it up to 4' off the ground and bring it's weight down on a shrub or bush to smash it down before cutting it, or I can cut almost vertically. It's also extremely nice to cut everything down before driving through it. Extremely nice!

This year we started feeding the bales in the horse barn, keeping it dry. Have been setting them in flat with the bale spear. This time I wanted to set it on end, so used the grapple on the 5x6 bale:

Re: Compact telehandler Pulling the rope!!

Haven't done anything new or different recently with the V417, so here is a project from 2017.

These oaks are too close to the trailer barn, the branches grow down onto the roof. Got tired of trimming back every year, so decided to try something I had never done before. No room to push them over like I usually do, so hooked up a long rope to the Gorilla Grapple.

It broke :(.

Hooked up the other one and retracted the boom some to get the side view picture.

Retracted all the way and it also broke :(.

Hooked a chain to each trunk and drug them out to the driveway.

Picked up one and took to the burn pile.

This is a project I should have done years ago. 8 willow trees grew up at the pond overflow structure.

Hi XFaxMan!

I had a usage question-

When using the mower, can you reach into areas by extending the boom?

We have a pretty steep hill at the back of our house, and the ability to mow it by using the boom might the straw that breaks the dam, and convinces SWMBO to agree to buying a [used] CTH. [Please pardon the mixed metaphors.]

She already likes the idea of having one as a man-lift to keep me [mostly] off of ladders, and the ability to extend the boom and grapple, and pull downed limbs and trees out of the woods, so this might just seal the deal.

Thanks in advance for your assistance, and is retrospect for posting all the great pictures and information about these awesome machines.

You're welcome and thanks, just trying to pay it forward.

Yes, just be careful not to get the back of the mower higher than the front where it could throw debris at the windshield .

Here it is with the boom almost fully extended, mowing over a silted in creek at the edge of the pond where we used to live:

This is what happens if you drive into silt:

The right side was on dry ground, you can see the tire tracks over there. And I was standing on the dry top surface of the silt taking the picture .

Same pond three years earlier. Hired a dozer to knock down the willow trees at the edge of the pond:

He got into the silt :

A little job for the big grapple. A pile of small dead branches:

A Little Pushover Job For The Compact Telehandler. Part One

Tried to push over this oak:
P6180005.JPG

Didn't push, so moved up higher to get more leverage:
P6180008.JPG

More leverage split the trunk:
P6180007.JPG

Moved to the other side and pushed:
P6180009.JPG

Got some movement of the root ball:
P6180013.JPG

Note the crack in the ground:
P6180014.JPG

Pushed more and felt roots breaking:
P6180018.JPG

Pushed out to maximum boom extension:
P6180022.JPG

Didn't go over, so I lowered the boom. Note the left front tire is off the concrete:
P6180024.JPG

It has a lot of roots:

This is as far over as it will go:
