Not in North America. Possibly South African country of origin laws force the use of a domestically produced Perkins?

My 3910 has the name of the mfgr. cast into the engine block and it's not Perkie. Perkies are found in MF tractors for one....had several of them.

Not necessarily. Remember he is in South Africa. There are all manner of content laws and domestic production protection laws that dictate some unorthodox manufacturing practices around the world. Especially 20-30 years ago.

Almost all our tractors was fitted with an ADE engine at that time and to ID them their numbers ended withe a 10 or an A .
Those engins is still performing and many have never being rebuiled.

I missed that too. I think MF is well represented there and as such, Perkie probably is too. Don't know all the Ford mfgring places. Maybe if there is one there they adapt to what's available.....who knows.

On the vibe thing, I had the under the left axle casting exhaust and finally got tired of it. Through a lot of trouble and considerable expense I converted over to the vertical exhaust and having 2 mufflers designed for that configuration, I selected the longest one. Cannot believe how that has quieted this machine and in doing so it runs smoother yet. Biggest problem was finding sheet metal with the vent hole and then finding one of them with the hole moved 11" forward which fits the 3910 instead of the 2-3000.

In the 70 a factory called "Atlantis Diesel Engines" was astablies near Cape Town and they build all the models in thar range from 3 sil to 6 sil straights to 6 and 8 sil v- engines aswell the flat engines for the busses and by law we had to use them in all our tractors, trucks and busses.
