Replaced the upper orings in my backhoe control valve. Not too bad a job. Didn’t dismount the valve, just loosened the mounting bolts and worked in place. Need to do a good clean up before I use.

Good evening all. 66F this morning, partly cloudy, light wind. Sky clouded up, wind was up and down, and looked like it would rain but did not, high temp 78F. Choir practice this morning, followed by lawn mowing, then bike ride. No nap today and I feel it. Rain in the forecast for most of the 10 day forecast.
David that is a big group, glad it went well.

Spent some time mentally working my propane line replacement project, including google and Youtube. Sure looks like cutting the concrete may be my choice of last resort.

Several alternatives for going under the concrete, unfortunately I couldn’t find any available locally to rent. Just might have to try the 16ft section by improvising, as I can get access from one side rather easily. Missing the rocks may be my challenge.

I also like the pipe pull using the existing pipe for the broken high pressure line. Using the backhoe to pull cable should work. That pipe should be in a bed of sand, so maybe a reasonable pull. I”ll unearth both ends and give a test tug.
While I’m not about to spend $700 for this tool, it does provide ideas.

David, best degreaser I've found for oil and especially hydraulic oil.
Chain saw oil drips, in Polaris bed, get s quick squirt. I keep a 1 qt. hand sprayer of it full strength for cleanup.

I had a "spraying" hydraulic hose leak a couple of years ago that covered my batwing rotary cutter and the whole backend of our 100 hp New Holland. I filled my pressure washer foam gun with the HD Pro and covered tractor / cutter with foam. I let it sit (cloudy day) for 20 minutes the pressured washed both with clear water.



My foam gun is same as above but, has a 3/8" quick disconnect, on the gun, instead of the M22 threads.

Have you ever seen a foundation company lift a house with a hydraulic jack and concrete cylinders? Maybe you could try something similar.
What about diggin a hole on one side of the driveway, and use a jack sideways? Put a piece of wood to push against. Then, go get some pipe nipples (length according to your jack's extendability, and connectors, put a pointed nose on the first pipe to start under the driveway. Jack it as far as you can, then backoff and put another nipple and jack again. Just be sure to push on the female connectors, or make a thread protector to keep from messing up the threads. Is black pipe legal to carry propane? Or you could buy oversize and just run your pex through it. Only you know how much rock is under there and if any type of alternative might work. Around here, we can get heavy duty oilfield pipe 2 3/8" or 2 7/8" in 20' joints. I would maybe try to make something cray cray to "shove" it with the big tractor...

I heard on the radio that some power companies in Kalifornia are conspiring to just turn off the power during high wind, high chance of fire times.

For weeks before last November's Camp Fire, PG&E, my local utility, had threatened to cut power on windy, low humidity days. The high voltage power line that most likely failed and caused the fire, though, was exempt from that policy, and it's not clear if PG&E will continue that practice. I haven't heard from my electrical contractor for more than a month now, so my plans for energy independence have had a set back. I guess business is so good right now they don't need mine.:confused2:

Good morning all. 63 in fog going up to 88 this afternoon. Landscapers/weedeaters coming this morning, will be tied up with that.
After picking over two hundred pounds of collards yesterday, I think the garden can take a break, though we are now drying out and I need to
start watering plants.


Rather disappointed in the noise cancelling headphones. I have 32db muffs that reduce the noise more also. But I've found steady state engine noise (mower, tractor, tiller) seems better controlled with the smaller electronic ones, less ringing in my ears when done. When putting on conventional large 32db muffs, yes overall sounds quieter. Biggest problem I have is wearing a large hat with one, trying to get it all positioned right.
Those big ear protectors get mighty hot in the summer too. Unfortunately ear plugs make my hearing problem worse so I have to use a headphone style.

maybe there's a reason the good Bose ones cost three hundred bucks...

32 °F and going to a high of 43. Wind NNW 9 mph. Partly sunny/cloudy. There were snow flakes falling out of the sky when I looked out the window a while ago.
The first time I saw snow in June was way back in the 50s down south, East of Toronto.

I am not sure what I will be getting up to today. Maybe another conserve energy day.
