Lowe's Military Discount

At Lowe's yesterday and just gave phone number. If it all went away tomorrow, its all good, nice while it lasted.

Have to go to HD Sunday because they have the lights I'm looking for

My ACE Hardware has the 10% discount and ask if I had a card. I told the gal I was so old a card was news to me but I could recite my service number. She said that's ok and thanks for your service. Maybe I should try that at Lowe's. I do have my discharge papers in my safe but that isn't handy as a card so maybe I should apply.

I recently rewired my shop.. the electrician took me to Lowes to buy everything.. on account of gouging by contractors.
We get to the check-out & as usual she asks me for my # & before I could utter a word the electrician jumps in w/ HIS #.??
BAM, 10% off a 500.00 bill.. WTH??
I dam sure didn't say anything.. I have/had no idea what just happened.. I figured he had some sort of account or something.??
We get everything loaded up & on the way home I'm looking at the receipt & low & behold it says Military Discount..
I said, I didn't know u were in the service?? He said I wasn't.. that's my Dads phone #.!!!
WTH..! It made me sick & left a real bad taste in my mouth.. I ended up firing him..

That sort of abuse of privilege crap is absolutely disgusting!

Same here. In fact, I just got the paperwork to fill out yesterday for the DD-214 card. Need to set down, fill out the forms and send them to St Louis. Actually I never felt that I deserved a "military discount" since i never saw combat.....just my feelings in the matter.

Well you can put that sentiment to rest... not everyone can serve at the 'pointy end'. The mere fact that you signed on, not knowing where you'd be sent and under what conditions, is more than enough in anyone's book. If these companies are offering then there is no embarrassment in humbly accepting.

If you carry a smart phone you could take a picture of your DD214. Then show the picture with your Driver's License to Lowes and get registered?

Mike, you deserve the discount if it's available. I understand how you feel about it. I never ask for Senior Citizen discount. I don't even take advantage of it at the local Farm & Home store.

Don't quote me on this, but today's Army requires somewhere around fifty Soldiers to project one Soldier onto the battlefield. Those fifty are just as deserving as that one.

I've gotta check into the DD214 card. Where'd you get the application? Thanks Mike.

Hmm. They didn't issue me a card of any kind. Just registered my phone number after displaying a military ID. Now just recite my phone number. I'll ask next time I'm there.
