Terry while snooping around in your shop (chain storage pic) I spotted a little interesting jewel that has me curious. It's that little turbuckle to the right of the 2 big "j" hooks. That hook that it's hanging by.....?

Eric I assume you are referring to this....

A friend gave it to me a long time ago. I always assumed it was part of an auto collision puller set but I don’t know for certain.

I added the turnbuckle and a short length of chain so that it could be used to pull assemblies into position or correct distortion on larger welding projects. The turnbuckle allowed for fine tuning.

That's my bet, frame machine hardware. Sometimes tow trucks carry things of that nature also. Using the same "frame" holes that a body shop would use.

I'll trade ya my rope trick for your short chain trick!!!!

Both great tricks. On any rope/strap knot I always put a wood dowl (ok often just a stick) in the knot and pull it out before I untie. It keeps the knot from getting too tight. That loop trick is better. I was wondering what the short double grab hook was for, now I need to make one.

It’s The Little Things Part 5

Welding Cable Management

Traditional style suitable for heavy longer cables.

Hooks mounted 90 degrees to “traditional”. Saves wall space and ideal for smaller diameter cables and torches.

A small local machine shop recently bought a new fairly big swivel head horizontal bandsaw. I picked up their old one on the weekend because it was one of those deals I just couldn’t pass up.

It’s an import 7”x12” capacity, 3/4 HP, 3/4” wide blade. Two new blades and all new blade roller guide bearings.

I will remove and resell the coolant tank and pump and use a wax stick for the blade. In essence at that point I will have purchased two new blades and received the saw for free.

Is that a new pickup? I remember you were taking off accessories on another truck. Without surfing the net for pics, I don't recognize that "backside" of that truck getting the new saw loaded with that wrap bumper and big fender flare.

Nope. Same old truck. Still need to do a tune up and hot pressure wash the undercarriage (and final detail) before I sell it.

Thinking I might bring my truck instead of Bimmer when I visit this summer, in case I need to haul one of your restorations home! :D
