Relief 20190602_123905.jpg

I took the backhoe off of my tractor right after delivery. I only used it briefly so far..maybe 10 minutes to play a bit.

I went to hook it back up a few weeks later and noticed a leak from the part circled in red. I think this is a relief valve (if I'm reading the manual correctly). I snugged up the big nut (green arrow) and went work. Everything seems fine, and the leak is gone.

If this is a relief valve, should I have left the big nut loose? Should I worry I may have tighten it too much? or that there is an proper adjustment that I should have done. I think I turned it about 1/2 turn. I did not move what looks like an Allen head screw in the middle of the nut.

Thanks.

I found a manual for a MB80 hoe.

From what i could see they use shims to adjust the relief valve so if you did not touch the shims you did not change anything.

If yours does not use shims, from what you described you made no changes. You did not over tighten!
