Adding a 2nd Spool to Kubota F2100

I've been wanting to add a 2nd spool to my Kubota F2100 front mower for years. Now that I have a little Ford 1210, the desire to put implements on the front of my Kubota is gone, as I use it mostly for grass cutting as it was designed now, however I did buy a little dump trailer last year that use tractor hydraulics to operate. I could plumb some valves onto my 1210's FEL controls (it has not remotes) but since I use it to load the trailer most of the time, it would make sense to have my hauler (Kubota) have a remote on it.

The existing spool is a 1-way that operates the front mount. A 2nd, 2-way spool valve, that bolts to the existing was/is available from Kubota to operate implements, however they are approx. $1200 last time I looked.

I realize this isn't an easy question to answer, however, is there a way I can plumb in a 2nd, generic spool valve? I think I remember seeing one years ago that was a bit of a rat's nest of hydraulic hoses.

You need to approach your wants in a different direction.

You need to buy a new spool valve with a power beyond feature. The PB feature is usually a sleeve or plug which you screw into the new valve to provide power beyond.

You put your new valve first in line from the pump where the original valve now is and then use its power beyond port to feed the original valve.

Do NOT make the mistake of buying a new valve with a high flow rating, such as 25 gpm. Too big a valve just leaves you with a valve with no fine control possible. Too small is better than too big.

So I understand, the 2 x hard lines in the above picture (in and a return?) will feed a new valve, which in turn will feed my existing 1-way valve. Will it be 2 x lines going from the new valve to the old, or just a single with the "return" line coming off the last valve in the series (the existing)?


I'm assuming most hydraulic shops can fab hard lines so it doesn't up being a rat's nest of hoses?

The princess auto one is rated for 15 gpm, the surplus center unit is only 8 gpm.
The larger one might flow to much to give you any fine control.

Because of my location, Princess Auto is probably going to be my best bet. That being said, they have a lot of 2 spool options and I'm not really sure which one to go with. I'll probably just go in and talk to them and hopefully find someone decent in the hydraulic center.

Plse tell owner what to do with his single acting cylinder.

The new valve will have two hoses for the cylinder which only has one port. This can be confusing.

What I would most likely do as it would not need any quick connects is to plug the valve port normally used for power down tie the cylinder raise line into the raise port on the valve.
That way I would be able to pull back to raise with power, return to center to hold position, to lower go all the way forward to float going right past the normal down position.

As noted in this thread (https://www.tractorbynet.com/forums...d-normand-trailer-purchase-2.html#post5456562) my immediate need for remotes on the Kubota isn't required anymore since a friend borrowed my dump trailer and added a 12v hydraulic system to it.

That being said, I'm going to look at a Kubota grass catcher for the machine that, I believe, can only be dumped with hydraulics. I've been wanting a grass catcher for this machine for years and the cost of adding a remote to run it will be well worth it (to me).
