RNG, after the one pedal of the Kubota the two pedals of the Deere seem so retro.

Had some quality time with grand daughter yesterday.. scheduled a pickup for some orange plastic posts used for traffic/crowd control so she could go with me. They are about as tall as she is, work great for her to run her powerwheels around on the driveway, we stopped for smoothies on way home.. she had a great time with them when we got home. We took a picture of her next to one and printed it so she could take it to school and show her friends.

A sunny 42ºF for today's low; a sunny 69ºF presently; and I anticipate today's high to be in the low 70ºF's with increasing upper level cloudiness heralding in tonight's/tomorrow's rain.

No bear sightings last night/this AM (so far).

I had an early AM appointment with the orthopedist. The X-rays looked decent. I am discharged from care.

“Big City” days really messes with activities around the place. The only real plan is a planned hookup with friends at the brewery/pub down the road.

David- I like your subsoiler pipe layer contraption; an ingenious use of materials laying around the place. Good luck with the line laying.

It reads like everyone is on the mend. I hope the progress continues.

RNG- I am happy to read you survived the bead seal w/o incident.

Hawkeye- Thanks for sharing your quality time with your Granddaughter.

I hope that everyone is having a decent day.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

68°F and .02 inches rain

Nothing special planned, puttering around cleanup in prep for upcoming trip. Trying to leave property somewhat orderly for the sitters.

Plumber had a problem with supplier, claims he sent text which we didn’t receive. Tentatively rescheduled for Thu if all materials are available.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Eric, those metal tanks with liners are the most common type of catchment storage here. Quite often the only concrete is a ring around perimeter which supports the metal and sand interior to support the liner. There are also a number of cover options from completely open, cloth, to galvanized like the walls. Here they all fail eventually. Usually the liner starts leaking and needs replacement, the metal rusts away, or a combination of poor construction/age they collapse. Of course various sizes, 10k gallon quite common. Considered to be economical.

RNG. Not an in depth answer but I believe is is at least partially dependent on sizeof base cell. Likely, yours will be 72 cell as it is common for grid tied. Off grid used to be more 60 cell, but seems 72 is becoming used more. Has to do with all those numbers on the data plate and how they add up when put in series. Combining either 2 or 3 panels is most common. This is somewhat determined by your Charge Controller and battery bank voltage.

Edit: just reread your post. Does seem quite large. I would expect you to have maybe 30 panels at most, likely less figuring 300w panels, likely arranged 3x10 or whatever. Most modern racking adds little if any to size. What panels are you getting?

Q.PEAK DUO L-G5.3-390 (390 Watt Mono). They measure 2015mm × 1000mm × 35mm (including frame), and there will be 20 of them in a 4 high by 5 wide configuration:

Q Cells Q.ANTUM Solar Panels | altE

Seems like prices for panels have come waaaaaay down from when I first started watching solar power!

And now that I've looked up the actual size of the panels, the 4x5 array "only" measures ~13 x 33, so I don't know how they're coming up with 40 x 80:eek:

I've been seeing those ads during the Stanley Cup Finals. I like that they are re-introducing the old "bus", but I'm not particularly thrilled that it will probably be electric. I get why they are going that direction with it, but It's probably not for me.

I didn't completely hate the Beetle remake. I just wish they'd stuck with the rear engine.

We purchased a slightly used 2001 (15K miles) new beetle. What a POS. Had major electrical problems, overheated twice (has an internal water pump) which would have cost $1500 bucks each time, one rear axle bearings went out at 25K miles then the other at 28K. The minor list goes on and on. We had an extended warranty (first time I ever bought one) so each repair only cost us $100, thank goodness. Got rid of it at 30K miles. I'll NEVER buy another new VW. We put well over 100K on our '69 bug....miss it

Yes, about that new tractor. The Kubota I have now has a hydrostatic transmission, and only one go pedal. Push the front to go forward, push the back for reverse. Kind of a rocking motion with your foot, very handy on steep slopes when you really, really, don't wanna go any farther down the hill.

I know John Deere hydrostat tractors use two pedals. What about the blue tractors? Seems like it would be difficult to move between forward/reverse having to jump your foot between the two.

As far as the new bus, I saw one at the 4WD festival in April. It seemed much smaller, and much lower, than any of the previous busses/vans. Not practical at all for camping, or even transporting anything but medium sized people. And if I recall correctly, range was only about 100 miles on a single charge. Yeah, I'd call that a big miss.

Yeah, the blue ones have two pedals. I guess it's what you get used to. I couldn't stand the rocker pedals. Side by side pedals seemed much easier for me.

Must have been exciting to see the "torch" from the valve stem....maybe your on to some 4th of July displays...:D:shocked:
