If you haven't done so already, I'd spend an hour actually doing "test runs" of hooking up PTO implements, detaching the FEL bucket, and any other normal tasks you would do with your setup. For instance...when hooking up a PTO implement from the cab, how difficult is it? Does the spline on the tractor rotate freely when dis-engaged so you can line up the PTO shaft on the implement easily. Or do you have to rotate the implement drive shaft in order to line up the spline. The bigger the implement, the harder to rotate the drive shaft.

How big is the FEL bucket? Can you get a larger one, so that you can carry more "cube" for lighter materials? Is the bucket a quick attach/skid steer setup?

Think about how all the different ways you will use it, and then go thru the motions on the dealer lot, before you open your wallet. Not saying you won't be happy with your choice, just try to eliminate any disappointments up front.

Good luck, and let us know how it turns out!

Most independent PTO tractor have a PTO brake. So the shaft doesn't turn when lining up the splines.
I simply added PTO overrun clutch on my machine to solve spline lineup issue.(been on there for the past 18 years.)
Similar to this SpeeCo Over-Running Clutch Adapter, Male Spline 1-3/8 in. x 6 at Tractor Supply Co.

Well I was told I can稚 get a buddy seat unless I get the 73hp in the LS. Also everyone has told me buy as much HP as you can afford. Yes the 38k was with loader out the door. I feel like that痴 an awesome price. Also this is a tax write off for me I own a company. I知 not saying price is not a issue, but I want to get the most for my money.

Just remember to look at dimensions like mine it's over 8ft tall with cab so one thing I had was go cutting all trees 8ft+ from ground anywhere I wanted to do anything with it and had a couple smaller gates that I had to redo for easy driving and still I will get on my little 26hp tractor to use my 3pt backhoe in some areas because of length and width for the difference of 5k you could have a dedicated smaller tractor older used and it stays on bush hog all the time of course I'm lazy about changing implements especially bush hog because I can make my boy do it on the 36hp tractor lol also the idea of bigger and heavier in tractors is false all depending on situations that's why they make so many hp and sizes in my place I can go into areas that are wet and muddy where if I was 2k heavier it would bog down and need other tractors to get out! But either way I think you will be happy with the LS

Oh and the buddy seat yes its available for biggest tractor but I find that my boys age 3, 8, 9, 10 all do fine and can enjoy my cab I just put a stool with cut down legs in cab that I move when getting in and out because I found a buddy seat that I could mount in mine but it makes space between dash and fender tighter I would have dealer get both the 73hp and the 58 to 68hp tractor in stock so you could do a side by side comparison it will also test your dealership on there customer service and ability to deal with things even get them to get a buddy seat in stock so you can see what I seen!

My dealer has all of those models I stock, so I値l get to check them all out tomorrow! At my house we have a 48hp Deere. It always feels like it needs a little more a** behind it is why I知 looking into the slightly bigger tractors. I own other machinery with skid steer quick attach, so I致e got several buckets that I値l be able to use with this tractor. Thanks for all the insight and info guys. I値l give an update tomorrow afternoon after I look at these light blue tractors.

One thing that put me off going green was also that they can't use a skid steer quick release and they claim it's to keep people from using too big of a attachment on their tractors for safety but it also is like companies using there own style of phone charging plug basically annoying and unnecessary! Hope you have some work to do with them lol get something done

Any JD tractor can be optioned with a skid steer QA system. If not available from Deere, it is from a number of aftermarket companies.

I'm still wondering why you think you need 70+ hp. I have 35 hp and cut 20 acres with a 7' woods finish mower in bush hog mode (set high) and can run in top gear. (a bit bumpy, but the tractor will easily do it).

Bad idea to have a child in the cab, IMHO. Its a non-zero risk.

Ask your wife what color she likes better. That pretty much solves your problem !

Here's the way its safer to have you kid in cab with you yes they can take your attention away some but if you make them understand how to behave its safer for.them to be sitting next to you than on ground because they cant run in front of you sitting next to you plus in future they will be better equipped to understand safety when they get old enough to use tractors many of us grown up sitting in dads lap steering vehicles! Of course dont put the buddy seat next to and hydro or pto controls lol mine are always wanting to test those out I told them they can when they can reach pedals and sit in seat!

My tractor needs are smaller than yours. I spent two months shopping. I did not have LS on my initial list but that is what I ended up buying.

LS offers a lot of tractor for the money. I saved thousands over the green, orange or red offerings. And I felt more comfortable with the LS dealer!

BTW, LS makes some of the New Holland machines so I doubt parts availability will be much of issue.
