Online gun auctions

Never understood the attraction of the 410. I have a Browning 28 ga O/U that weighs about 5 lbs and is a joy to carry in the field. I can load it with 1 oz. of shot for the larger upland birds and rabbits, or lighter charges for the smaller stuff. My buddy could not believe how effective it was the first time we hunted with it. Seven shots for six birds.

As to the OP, I stopped using GB a few years ago. Only got burned once but not too badly. I have found that waiting for sales at OutdoorSuperStore and CDNN offers decent deals from time to time. My LGS came within $30 of matching the best on-line price on a pair of S&W 686's I bought a few months ago.

I agree about the .410 vs the 28 gauge, I just would like to have a 94 series to go with all of the others. Firearms are one of the few things which actually do hold their value after inflation, and until recently a clean single shot shotgun could be bought for >$100.

Online auctions seem to have gone the way of gun shows. Used to be some great deals out there, but now everything seems ridiculously high.

Probably because of all the dissention about fire arms.

A sign of the times. When the DJIA is way 'up there', everyone thinks their stuff is worth the most ever, and some of us 'boomers' are seeing ourselves at the point of cashing in our collectibles. Someone else made an easy buck somewhere and we just want our turn. ;)

I haven’t been to a gun show in 20 years. Last time I went it was a lot of military stuff, lots of clothes.

Yeah, and that's how they used to be around here, too, along with some really great deals on modern arms, parts, and accessories.

These days, they're full of guys trying to sell $450 SKS rifles and $3500 Colt Pythons. Even common stuff like a Glock 19 is priced right at MSRP.

My favorite local gun show was in Belleville IL this past weekend. I didn't go.

I've seen the same stuff happening on Gunbroker. Everybody wants top-dollar new prices even on used stuff. No thanks.
