One reason why many people don't feel the need to wear a helmet when driving a motorcycle or ATV.

Ironcially enough, the man in the pic with the dog in the back pack was not wearing a helmet. That said, perhaps he's an expert and didn't need one?

Ohio is a no helmet state, about 1/2 of riders, maybe more don’t use any protection at all. I always rode with a heavy jacket and full face helmet.

I always tell people if I’m sliding down the road, I’ll be real happy I have the heavy jacket and helmet on. That usually ends that conversation.

I never said the guy with the pup was safe, but I found it funny to see the little dog with goggles chilling in the baby carrier.

I would never find it funny to see a dog being mistreated. Both the dog and the motorcycle driver have been put in more danger IMO due to weight distributon and the chance that the weight distribtuion could change without input from the driver, with increased lack of control by the driver by the weight change.

I can tell a lot about a man on the way he drives with his dog in his truck and where the dog is located at. Guy riding a bike a like that with a dog shouldn't be transporting the dog in the first place.

And he is depriving the dog of sticking its head out the window  Seriously, that is a dumb thing to do, as has been mentioned, the imbalance alone by the dog moving at the wrong time could cause a major accident.

My neighbour had a little dog that rode in a box on the front of his quad. He couldnt go anywhere on his property without his little mate. He didnt go on the roads though. That little dog had his own doggles too. Sadly, one day, a visitor ran over the little dog and he was devastated.
I have a 4x4 xuv and my 3 love to ride in the back. They are very well behaved in it..
Funny how dogs love to ride with rheir humans.
The law in Australia requires riders to wear helmets. It boggles me to see it isnt a requirement in the US.

Dogs are required to be in a seatbelt here not that a lot of people pay any attention to it, just a dog harness with a loop that the seatbelt goes through, I think the cop who books you would really have to want to get you for something.
Mine rides in the passenger seat asleep with his head on my lap.

I tried one of those harnesses when I had my last dog... they are designed for pets who are sitting up like humans do. The first thing she would do is get all twisted up in it, so that if I ever did get in an accident or needed to stop fast it would have broken her spine.

Most states up here in the US have some sort of law, so it varies by where you live. I do not know about dogs.
