I'd change the rear tires to a more aggressive tread.

Get yourself an agricultural tire such as this and you will find traction to be amazing. IMG_20180606_190121751.jpeg

The delay in obtaining my new tractor meant my lawn was heavily over grown when I attacked it on Sunday. This wasn't a problem for my new unit, easily plowed through even the highest grass and powered up my steeper hills thanks to the locking diff (I did have to use it a couple of times).

Can you give an indication of what "heavily overgrown" equals? I'm looking for a new rider mower and I'm considering a GT from Husqvarna. My grass is very heavy and ordinary lawn tractors have trouble. Right now grass that hasn't been cut yet this year is 3-4' tall, grass that hasn't been cut in a month is 2' tall. The only thing I've found that will cut the taller grass is a bush hog.

Thanks.

Your not going to cut that with any belt driven cutter. Period. A brush hog is what you need.

Rock,
What is the latest on the x3 cub cadet, Is it staying or is it leaving?

I'm pissed. The power deck lift is currently broken with 48 hours on it. I've tested relays, fuses, cleaned the plugs.... $780 for a new one... At 48 hours. Yes, I'm not at all pleased with this POS. Not happy. Not happy at all. It's pretty. It cuts grass like a champion. IMG_20180615_113910606_HDR.jpegIMG_20180615_113900400.jpeg

Yeah 2'-3' grass, if its a small area mine will cut it with the blade all the way up but would not do more than a small area with it. A brush hog first is the way to go as others have said. Once you cut it down to a manageable height you can start using your finish mower.

Okay, I pulled relays and fuses, but didn't have my bifocals... I ended up grabbing the Fluke meter and doing continuity checks in fuses and found that one 10a fuse that to my bad eyes looked good, but the Fluke said no way. Changed that and got the deck motor back. Why it was blown, I have no clue. I like the cut. I don't like the BDU-10 transmission compared to my old Husqvarna that has the much stronger (going by feel, not by engineering numbers) Hydro Gear G730. That Husqvarna will out pull this big Cub Cadet every day of the week and twice on Sundays. That is undisputable.
