Hydraulic Filter change without changing fluid

I am currently in the process of doing this on my L47... Oil cane gushing. When I purchased the filters at the parts counter of my Kubota dealership he said 土ou may want to grab a quart of UDT2 to top it off when done. Lol should have bought 2 gallons. The L47 has 2 hydraulic filters right next to each other. (Has separate HST filter opposite side of frame). Not a pleasant experience at all. Needs less to say I now have to wait till Monday to get more oil. SMFH... a Petcock or ball valve would be very helpful when they engineered this.

Cavitation from a plugged (or turned off) filter or inlet will actually destroy a pump faster than a lot of dirty oil would. I'm sure not wanting liability on that is one if the reasons there isnt one.

The shop vac trick works great. You don't loose any noticable oil when the filters are off, even for several minutes.

Understood. However I did use the shop vac on the 2nd hydraulic filter and only lost what was in the filter. I’m mad at myself for not having investigated sooner. I have to wait until Monday to pick up more oil to top it off. Lesson learned.
