I believe you are absolutely correct. My waist is large and my mind has narrowed and I find myself more rigid in my beliefs.

Something happened when I turned 60. I became Fred Mertz with pants. Wear them normally and a 38 waist is fine...pull them up an inch and it goes from a 38 to a 50! Then getting out of my recliner I walk like Grandpa McCoy for a while.
I recently graduated to Velcro tennis shoes because tying shoes squeezes my nuts.

Yea,all those things plus side openings are much better for pocket pool than holes in front pockets.

Duluth Trading Company sells "Ballroom Jeans". Very comfortable and the twins are happy.
