Steriod shot in knee, ???

Well a small update. VA couldn't get me in for over 30 days. So they referred me to my "community care" paid for by the VA. It is all time consuming and I am a lot of pain. Still haven't heard from them. WARNING. I ordered the Turmeric Curcumin as discussed in this thread. Three days later I started bleeding where the sun doesn't shine. I called the mfg. and tried to get information from them. They wouldn't even talk to me. Said talk to my doctor. So you have to wait and schedule a appointment with the doctor. I talked to a druggist and he said not to take it if you are on blood thinners. They should state that on the bottle.

I take it for inflammation/pain relief, it works for me, and thankfully, these other health issues do not affect me. The link says there can be lowered cholesterol when using turmeric.

Well, had my visit with the knee doctor this morning... Diagnosis is left knee a "wasteland", and right knee a few years behind. I am too far gone for the Rooster shots. Good news is I can get steroid shots every four months to help with the pain, and the ones this morning are certainly helping already. My job now is to lose weight, and fast. Every pound off will be a rest to my knees, then in maybe 10 years a new knee. I'm 61 and too young apparently. So... today is the first step of a long journey...

Naproxen Sodium is your friend. I lived on them for several years. One in the morning and one at lunch.

Why are you too young for a replacement? If it is hurting you too bad get it replaced.

Very much too young Stepp . . . lose the weight . . . I'm 76 and have had the chicken stuff in my knee every 6 months for the pasts 3 years . . . am not over weight @ 190 and 6'1" doctors can not ***** about that. Lose some weight, listen to the doc

I think you need another doctor with a different brand of knee replacement.

During my recovery and Dr. ordered check-ups, I seen about a dozen people who got a new knee around the same time as I did. At 64, I was one of the oldest and certainly not the heaviest. Most people seemed to be in their 50's and one very heavy woman was closer to 40.

Don't put it off for 10 years, find another surgeon and get it over with.

Oh, I'm sure that day will come. But for now I'm going to do everything else I can. After high school sports, college sports and 40 years of construction, pain is normal for me. For now I can manage it.
