I'd rather buy a tractor made in Japan, than India, South Korea, or China, that's for sure!.. also, no Cast Steel frame!. formed Steel all the way!..
We tend to "grow" rocks where I live. You can't dig a shovel in the ground without hitting one. They vary in size from football to car size. In my woods, they are just sitting all over. I'd like to be able to go in, get them out, and use them to build up some retaining walls. This is one reason lift capacity (and wide tires with ballast) is important to me.OP.... What do you mean by "harvesting rocks" for a retaining wall?

If the OP is concerned about Hp and lift capacity - do like I did. I went with a Kubota M6040. NO problems - I can quite easily lift anything of any weight( on my property ) to any height with the grapple on my FEL. Why ponder & piss around - go big and don't regret it.

I think a tracked skid steer would be ideal, and have peripherally considered that, but the cost is just too prohibitive.Understood.
Digging rocks out of the ground is tough work for a compact tractor loader. They really aren't designed for that kind of work and abuse.
Based on the other projected uses, you might also want to consider a skid steer, and a tracked one at that.
You can run a hydraulic snowblower in a heated cab. You can push a front grader box, land plane, Harley rake (etc) for road maintenance. Working on cleaning the trees would be better. And working with rocks and retaining walls would be better.
Just food for thought.
See my in depth discussion above in post 29. Kubota loaders are weak, although lift higher, in comparison to others.
