BX24 - will not shut off. How to choke?

I had the same issue. DONT kill it like described above. Just remove the band clamp on the intake, and squeeze the intake tube to choke it off.
I had this happen earlier this spring. After choking it 3-4 times, I found the plug right on top of the engine was slightly dislodged. It seems it’s not a good “snap” to lock it, and it vibrated loose.

What's wrong with shutting down the way I said? The OP had the tractor running for a while just trying to figure a way to shutting it down. I just mentioned a fast and easy way to kill the engine that does absolutely no harm to the tractor, since the OP and most people obviously don't know where the shutdown lever is.

BX23, I found my lever and tied a synthetic cord through it, hangs down a bit to pull without opening hood.
Within a month I needed to use it!

Get an old metal coat hanger & open it up & fashion it to the lever & secure it w/ zip ties to where u can reach it.. & forget about the solenoid..
Actually the last 1 I replaced wasn't expensive at all.. less than 50.00 if I recall.

It's not like it was running away...the best way to test a solenoid is to energize it...can't see how friction stalling a diesel (or any engine) does it any good...

Contrary to what would seem logical, your machine has an Operator Presence Controller which sends a timed pulse of power to the engine stop solenoid to stop the engine.

First check all fuses as one critical one means there is no power to stop the engine.

Sorry. I didn’t mean it was “wrong”. Poor response on my part. I didn’t think “slamming” the HST pedal was doing the transmission any good. As for the solenoid, I just never found what to pull on the solenoid on mine, and with the loader on, it was a #%*$&? To remove all the body panels not knowing what in the heck I was looking for. The intake was quick, but again, I had no idea what I was looking for.

You can reach the solenoid on a '24 by just lifting the hood. No need to remove anything. Rear of engine compartment on the left (from driver's perspective) and below the air filter. Just push it in.

So, since I started this thread, thanks for all your responses! Besides killing it with the brake/HST combo, have learned also to manually kill it by moving the speed control plate in the engine compartment.

Today, finally took the stop solenoid to the dealer - asked the parts desk to test it - of course, he came back and said it was shot. (can't help but feel like the classic fox/chickenhouse...) anyway - still need to learn to do that type of test. Found an older thread from 2007 with diagrams for that.
Installed the new solenoid. still didn't shut off. Checked the fusebox a second time - the 10A fuse for the timer relay was broke. replaced that and so far, has now shut off at the ignition 3x now. like old times...wooo

now, the next question please: the solenoid rubber boot on the wire end includes a "tube" about 1.5 inches long at 90 deg to the body. The old solenoid, this was full of crud/dirt. So - is it correct to assume that this does NOT connect to any thing? Is it a breathing or heat dissipation tube or ?

That boot should be covering the push pin to manually shut the tractor off, I think the tube is to let air in and out so there is no suction if you push the pin in to control the rack inside the IP..
