moving rear lights to inside ROPs

/ moving rear lights to inside ROPs #11
I pick my 1705 up tomorrow morning and when I get home besides putting the grab hooks on I’m putting the rear lights on the inside, I mow about 6 acres and have woods running all around my property and I can see taking a light out in the 1st 10 min of mowing.

Well I have already broke a light. I saved all the pieces and glued it back together and looked to buy another to replace it with. Holy cow, someone is making a ton of money on these lights. The cheapest one I could find for an exact replacement was 117.00. I decided I needed to move them to the inside of the rops, it was an easy change. I unbolted one and marked the hole with a center punch then used a step bit to make a new hole for the wires. They just plug into the harness so unplugged and moved to the inside. 1st mod done. hopefully I'll never have to buy one of those gold plated lights.

Hope you DID NOT drill any holes in the ROPS. One, it will void your warranty if you ever take the unit in for warranty service (if applicable) and Tow, the rops is engineered as a roll over protective structure and drilling holes in it weakens it and possibly cause it to collapse if stressed by a roll over.

You don't modify a seatbelt, you don't drill holes in a rops structure. U bolts toisecure things are fine. Holes aren't fine at all.

It ia an easy move, drill another hole for the wires and swap the lights left to right and you are done. I'd also patch the hole on the outside when you have a chance. i could not find a weep hole so any water that gets inside could start corrosion inside the rops.

I just move lights in side by swapping them side to side... Put a couple washers between ROPs and lamp housing so not to crush wires... Zip tied wires down ROPS.... Was not keen on drilling holes in ROPS... You know in case of lawsuit and modded ROPS liability issues (snarky smile)....

Just did mine, took about 10 min but had to loosen up the 3 nuts on the lower right ROP to pull the wire plug through( no big deal ), I will have a friend use my welder( I have a pacemaker now and welding is a no no I guess and I don’t want to find out )sometime this fall and plug the holes or just find a rubber plug to fit. I need shorter tie straps.

Some body mention there is a rubber/plastic plug that fits holes.... Don't know the source though... Have not bothered to plug mine yet....
