I have always used roundup to clear weeds and grass I just have not bought any lately but I think I will try the Glyphosate and see how that works To prevent weeds from growing back.

Yep. Doesn't take much either. Depending on your size of driveway a few gallons mixed at 2-4% can go a long way.

I did some reading and the 1st article I read said Glyphosate isn’t Roundup but they do the same thing and then went on explaining Glyphosate and it’s use, if it’s cheaper then 100.00 a gal in concentrated form I’ll be happy, I’ve tried way cheaper stuff but didn’t get the results Concentrated Roundup did. I’ll go to the feed store and see what they have other then Roundup.

Just as a heads up, how you mix the Glyphosate can make a real difference in it's effects. I did some driveway spraying and some wood trail spraying this year with it. First time in the woods I did a lighter mix, waited the week or two to see how it went...didn't do a ton, but did some. Takes sunlight to really make this stuff activate tbh. Second time I did it, I did around my gravel driveway. I mixed a tiny bit heavier and went at it. With the full sun, and heavier mix it spread and ran down hills underground etc... so I have a few spots of lawn that are dead, that I didn't spray. They are slowly coming back...but it will be the end of the year if not next spring until it looks okay IMO.

1) Sunny areas help the poison work through the plant faster.
2) It can run underground a bit if you go heavy so be careful if you are around things you care about
3) It takes a bit to work, don't expect overnight results. Sometimes can be a week or two, depending on mix strength.


Good luck, wear long sleeve clothes/breathing mask and gloves and do not spray in the wind!!!! Before I get back in the house I strip to my underwear and its right to the wash on heavy duty. Don't want the animals licking at me when I get in and get some in them.

Glyphosate is absolutely the active ingredient in Roundup.

I believe a lot of the stuff sold to homeowners, etc. is already diluted.

"Full strength" Roundup (i.e. agricultural) is typically a +50% glyphosate solution which I dilute with water to around 2 to 4% for use on weeds on the driveway etc..

I appreciate all the info you guys are putting on the table for me to go through and soon as the rain stops I’ll take a trip to town and check it all out at the feed store and now let this rain stop so the ground dries out.

41% strength is plenty strong to do the weed killing job.

Back to the original poster's question, TSC also has a good, Agri-Ease brand I believe, box blade that goes on sale as well if you haven't pulled the trigger yet. I have a sales alert set up for the six foot blade.
