Good morning!!!!

It's been 10 miserably hot days since our last rain, so I was glad to be awakened at 4 a.m. this morning by tremendously loud thunder and plenty of very bright lightning. I got up, went into the kitchen, turned on the coffee maker, and we had another very loud clap of thunder . . . and the lights went out. Been a long time since I've seen anything that dark. I started to feel my way to the living room where I knew there were flashlights and such, and the lights came back on.:cool2: 75 degrees this morning, going for a predicted high of 94, and we're still getting a light rain.

The news media says the electricity usage in north Texas has been very close to the maximum available the last few days. Hundred degree weather sure puts a strain on the system . . . and on our back accounts.

Good morning! 79˚F heading to 99˚F quirk cloudy skies. Bird don't squeeze all the rain out of the clouds before you send them South. Sorry Kyle and Rick but will bw sending you dry clouds only.:D

Found some new recipes for eggplant, which is high in vitamin K and good for the heart. We can use it just as we use tomatoes by blending them or cutting them up small in soups, spaghetti, casseroles, etc. .

Bird, Rick, Kyle who will win the highest electric bill this month? Post kilowatt usage and $ for August.

Hope everything goes well for Randy today, it's got to be a stressful time for his family.

Roy, good move on turning around.

Good Morning. It's 78° with 96% humidity and forecast says 102° this afternoon and ..... maybe some rain, late afternoon. Yippee!

I need to finish trimming around the house and more window washing this morning. Found out last evening that we have guests coming this afternoon for a two day visit.

Thomas ...... I'm wondering if Boo Boo has installed his own game cams and is watching you?

Roy ... hope the doc can get this figured out.

BEF .... get ready! The plan to "spring you" is coming together! The Chinook Crew is ready to go.

Don's Sun City Rescue Helo will provide backup and cover for the primary crew.

I think my rain might be just about over; still getting a tiny sprinkle, but I found that my gauge has 1.5" in it.:dance1:

Bird, Rick, Kyle who will win the highest electric bill this month? Post kilowatt usage and $ for August.

My billing cycle ends in 2 days; forecast to be about 1600 KWH for $200. As of this morning, it's 1485 KWH for $187.

How .... it's done!

Pennsylvania National Guard pilot, in 2004, off the roof of a shack in Afghanistan.

Heard, more like felt, a Chinook approaching the house yesterday. It went over at about 100', on its way to the Chico airport, probably for fuel and fire retardant. Yep, National Guard on the job again, helping to make the country a better place. So much very dry fuel everywhere, several fires a day in the local news now.

I suspect it's been pretty close to max here, too, Bird. Three more days of near 100F on the way, too. Just got last month's electric bill, and it's a whopper:shocked: Not looking forward to the next three months, but what are ya gonna do?:confused3:

I did get through to a structural engineering firm to get their stamp and signature on the solar grid design yesterday. Should get some word on what that blessing will cost this week...

54 right now...high in the upper 70's today.

Got about 20some miles south yesterday, then turned around. I've been having bout of light to moderate vertigo the last few weeks in the morning. I've been toughing it out to get to work since the vertigo abates in a couple hours. 180 miles to CT was too far though. I think it's my BP again and I have a doctor's appointment Thursday afternoon.
Might want to carry a BP machine with you. My BP was low this morning so the didnt give me my BP meds.

Now you made me go look.

Bill covering 7/10 - 8/8 was for 989 kWh @ $256.24. I bet I see double that before we get our next real rain.

Bird, they sure sell power cheap in Texas!

Good Morning!!!! 73F @ 6:15AM. Abundant sunshine. High near 105F. Winds light and variable.

Here's hoping Randy has an easy ride today, and he comes through it better than new...

Don, with all your club activities, have you no time for water volley ball this summer? Or is there no club for that (yet)?

I hope you have a garden hose handy while you're playing with that torch, Drew. We'd hate to read about you in the papers...

Broke out the laser level yesterday morning to get the front diff aligned. It was only off by 1/8" or so, but the laser light was hard to see without the special red sunglasses included in the kit. While I was under there I saw that the decoupler on the front of the transaxle is still leaking, so I cleaned it off and will take another look today to see if I can figure out where it's coming from. Also made some measurements to calculate u-joint angles, but without the drive shaft in place, it's not possible to determine the angle of each of the u-joints. So maybe I'll play around with that some today, too.

My bulldozer neighbor's wife called yesterday wanting to know the name of my homeowners insurance company. Her mother-in-law had just been declined for her home and is having trouble finding coverage. During the call she let slip that they're going to sell their little fire engine, and asked me if I was interested. Interested? I was on that like a rooster on a June bug! Should have it sometime in the next week.

Happy Hump Day, folks!:cool2:

71°F and foggy this morning, going up to 87° today.

Got home from work yesterday and was met with the sound of a gas-powered pump attempting to empty the lake. Four months later than scheduled, but it's finally happening.

Paul, is your table built from pressure treated wood? We have a conventional picnic table that we'd like to paint.

No idea, Rick. It was given to us by the couple across the road, who got it from the husband's mother but never used it. It's been painted once before, but that paint wore off long ago, and the wood was fairly weathered. Considering it's current condition, I'm guessing it probably is treated lumber. It's remarkably well-preserved for having sit out unprotected for so long.

$200 / 1600 = $0.125/kWh

July - 3340kWh / $376.

$376 / 3340 = $0.113/kWh

Now you made me go look.

$256.24 / 989 = $0.259/kWh

Define win...:confused2:

One thing's certain: That solar power system will pay for itself much quicker here in Kalifornia!
