Saw dog bite girl today.

That scared the chit out of me yesterday.........when a very large dog (Great Dane?) came upon me at my place. Being an old man without any protection such as a club, I just stood there and backed away. He left.......with only a couple barks....Whew!!!....and "Yes" the owner is a jerk.

Sorry to hear that Mike!!! That dog is trouble in the making. The fact that he barked at you, on your property, is proof of that!!! Be on the lookout.

Got a bit shook up yesterday. Shut my saw down bucking blocks and was staring at two big dogs, lookedd to be bird dogs, wearing tags. They looked me over and went about their way. I didn't see or hear any shooting. I know they don't belong to anyone within a mile of where I was working.

Just because a dog barks does not mean it’s vicious and going to bite! Unlike your other answer it also does not immediately mean trouble. There are many other things that need to be looked at before that assumption can be made. I do understand that when surprised by one that it is not always easy to take the time to truly understand the dog but if it walked away it’s simply put an extremely low chance the dog was looking for anything other than to say hello! Carry your pistol for awhile in case but before you go shooting or clubbing it try talking to it with a here boy my money is it would slowly approach smell and be your new friend and if it’s left run loose will come visit when it can.
My neighbors poorly trained dog came to visit me once a day for the rest of its life after the first visit which started almost exactly like yours.

If you have a dog take care of out it, keep it from bothering anyone, keep it from leaving you're control and there won't be problems, if you don't and the dog gets shot it's no ones fault but you're own... Stop crying about people shooting dogs on their own property after a dog attacked a little girl..

Think about it, if that little girl was you're little girl..
