James, great real world test. Thanks for posting... sort of a myth busters test. Both are awesome weapons. I'm biased and favor my AR of course.

Back maybe 8 or 10 years ago I was doing some training with some retired operators and in the beginning of the rainy dreary weekend, we were starting with pistol work. So we all were instructed to remove our rifles and lay them in the water and mud in front of us.... Then step forward onto them. We then spent the next couple hours doing the pistol work and ignoring that the rifles were there as we trampled them.

This did a couple things. It broke some Barbie Doll accessories that were junk, proceed that the guys showing up with airsoft level junk is not the same as operator level junk.

It showed that the weapon platform will run reliably even when horribly abused as long as it's oiled wet. The AR likes oil, feed it. You can go thousands and thousands of rounds without cleaning if you flood it with lube each use. I went over 5000 rounds on my favorite with zero cleaning before my son came home from the Corps and cleaned it.

It showed that quality optics/sighting devices are true after being stepped on and kicked around in the mud for a couple hours. It showed that the cheap airsoft crap is useless.

The AR is a pretty dang durable and reliable system. Just oil it and let the dirt, crud and oil run out. You'll be fine, wash your hands later.

They may try to put tighter restrictions on ownership of certain weapons and ammunition stores etc...they may try to enact laws that require licenses for a much wider list of firearms...

What they will do is try and make it harder for unstable individuals to legally purchase firearms and ammo...and to do that anyone wanting to buy a firearm is going to be required to prove they are not a kook and have never been prescribed certain medications or been treated for certain conditions etc., etc...and when you check the boxes on the form and sign it...the fine print will say that you are agreeing to allow them to search your medical, employment and financial records etc., etc...

Don't think some members of Congress give a **** about "...shall not infringe" no matter who it hurts

Get used to it. Some would like to eliminate the 2nd, not realizing that is the only thing keeping the 1st alive.
There are going to be a lot of changes in the next ten years, starting in 2021 if President Trump doesn’t get the economy back on track. At the end of the day that performance is always what determines a presidential election.
