- People fire handguns indoors, can hear each other right afterward, and speak in a normal tone of voice.

(Marion Morrison would have been deaf by the third movie.)
And if it's dark, they can see just fine too.

Recent movies have become almost unwatchable for me, with all the crazy, loud unnecessary NOISE! And if you turn it down, you can`t understand the dialogue. Guy gets punched in the face (with little effect) but it sounds like an explosion of some sort! AMAZING what you can convince the masses is desireable. Anything that can stir the senses in brain dead people I guess.

Then some TV shows have constant background music, probably to hype the action.
Drives me nuts!

And firing the gun from the hip and pushing forward during the firing action, with deadly accuracy....

LOL, how about riding a galloping horse, shooting over the shoulder and dropping the villain or villains?
And at that usually a quick '(but always accurate) 'snap shot'! LOL.

'You got one maybe 7-800 yards'
'Closer to 1,000'

But at least he was still, prone and using a monopod.

Bruce Willis in one of the "Die Hard" movies took down a helicopter by severing a high tension power line with a snub nosed revolver.

In the opening chase scene from a 1950's movie "Thunder Road", the star rolls his car completely over while making a U-turn, then tears off in the opposite direction without even the need to restart the engine.

For me that is related to hearing loss. I listen to NPR news sometimes, and turn it off when they talk to somebody from another country. I would like to hear what they say, but attempts are fruitless.

I hear you, same here. (pun intended)

I figured the problem is that we rely on a combination of lip reading as well as voice and 'non American English' users don't form words with as much lip movement as we do.
As a french Canadian I also have that problem with Parisian films.

A hint 4 you:
Purchase a decent pair of wireless earphones and you'll discover a new world.

I just love film with subtitles, the text being the same colour as the backgraound. I would rather some cheesy out of sinc voice over anyway. At least that's entertaining.

People that confuse the mythconception thread with the Pet Peeve thread.

The people sitting next to you in church agree with your wife. ;)

How about in an airplane, how do they deal with those smells? Is there a deodorizer pumped into the air? Inquiring minds want to know....

Maybe it's why on the cheaper flights they recycle the air more frequently. That deoderizer can't be cheap! My Dad gets good and sick every time he comes back from Europe.

I guess, that Anny Okly or whatever her name was COULD have hit just about anything she pleased off the back of a horse.

Those duke boys always squeeled tires on dirt roads.
