I concur. I tilled up 3 odd acres with my L3200 & a 5' king kutter tiller + lots of other jobs. A HST can let you load your engine to the max dynamically without stalling. Plus you dont need to wory about the optimal speed for the disk to work, or run in & run out room.Don't think it will pull it or be effective.Roto tiller will work a lot better on that sized machine.
The 2501 will surprise you, I have one and it works real hard for me. As for the weight: tractor, loader plus loaded rear tires the weight is around 3500-4000 lbs. Although I don't own a disk like your talking about, I'd be surprised if the 2501 is not enough tractor, especially in 4x4 low range.
