Big enough for the job?

For what even a used tractor and blower cost, you can hire it out for decades. What I do on my rentals. I hire it out.

so true. same with weekend homes at the beach. Unless you love the place, you can rent a different one all over the world for decades for less.

Ah. SIL could be sister-in-law (was in my post), but probably son-in-law too. Abbreviations make everyone dumber, I forgot that.

I get that. But:

1. How many plow guys am I going to go through before I find one that doesn't dig up my 1/4 mile driveway, large parking area and path to the back of the house?

2. How many plow guys will I go through before I find one that pushes the snow far enough?

3. How many plow guys will I go through before I find one that won't insist on plowing AND charging when there is 1.5 inches of snow?

4. Who's going to plow when the plow guy's truck breaks down?

5. What's going to happen when I can't get to work because the plow guy is swamped or does me last? I HAVE to be at work on time and so doesn't my wife.

I'm not a renter so I take care of my own stuff. There is a price you pay to home ownership and not being dependent on others. I'm willing to pay that price to get it done and done right.

I agree with all of this! You left out the fun factor. Being out in the snow is fun and helps keep the inner child alive.

I'm not either, I'm the landlord. I have the guy down the way do the rentals. Has a nice Jeep with a Meyers plow on it and dose a good job. Only has to push it to the road then I take care of it. My 10 foot wide county plow is too big for a driveway, I'd be tearing up the bushes and who knows what else. He's dirt cheap too. Does it for zip.

I agree. I look for any excuse to drive my tractor, and I LOVE blowing snow.

When you get to be my age, you'll be wanting to sit in front of the fire and toast your feet instead. Quit blowing years ago. Easier and quicker to plow. Sold my big Lucknow 8 foot wide blower. No need for it.

I will say in defense of fun, that first big snow is fun to plow but come January and February, I look at every storm as work, not fun, but then I'm probably old enough to be your dad.

Both the 2360 and 7610 would be a good fit for the snowplowing application you're seeking. I live in Northern New Hampshire as well so I know exactly what the winters are like here! There's some great options on Craigslist reasonably priced however if the cost is a concern to you there's always financing options. Even if it's a private seller I know a bank here in New Hampshire that can finance a private party sale to help conserve cash flow. Either way the 7610 would be a perfect fit for your needs if you have a flat driveway.

Nice thought that I should be so young, but I am afraid not.
