Comparison kubota/ kioti specs and experience

   / kubota/ kioti specs and experience #61
Just so everyone knows, I don't hold any animus against Kubota tractors. My only point was that new guys often make comparisons that are not valid between brands. Yes my L3400 had a "jerky" 3pt like all L3400's have. Yes Kubota makes these tractors to a weight and price point. They are very popular tractors for these reasons. The Regional Kubota rep was actually right when he told me "if you wanted a 3pt like a Grand L you should have bought a Grand L" There is a REASON they make Grand L's and it isn't just "bells and whistles".

Grand L's are their premium line of tractors costing thousands of dollars more than so called "standard" L's. But if you buy a Standard L and think you are somehow getting a better bargain and only missing "bells and whistles" you are fooling yourself. If you are satisfied with a lighter tractor, with a 3pt that is not as smooth as it could be with lift capacities that are not as high, and with not as many features that make hitching up as easy, and without standard SSQA (an option on most), no standard remotes, and made to a price point more in line with your budget, then that is great. Both you are Kubota corporation are satisfied.

As for other emerging brands of tractors like my Kioti and LS etc, these tractors may be made in countries with wages lower than Japan, and also have aggressive marketing campaigns to try to win some market share away from the two big players in the compact tractor market here in North America, John Deere and Kubota. So yes you can buy "more tractor" for "less money" as compared to those two. Of course the dealer network even now is not as near as extensive as Deere and Kubota. Although my local dealer for Kioti is large and has an extensive selection on their lots. My current tractor was sold in the price range of a Standard Kubota L tractor and has features near that of the Grand L series.

One feature missing from my Kioti from a Grand L is the Grand L's excellent HST+ transmission. If you don't know what that is or the features it brings to the table, you can google it or see it in action on you-tube. Again no standard L has a HST+ transmission either. There are trade off's in any tractor buying decision. If you would like to know more of my knowledge of tractors, just ask me! :) I am willing to share...

People have this fallacy that something thats been around a while means it better, sometimes yes, sometimes no. I also think people have this dealer fantasy as well, while important its still not the end all be all. Im saying this after buying a Kubota, to be honest if Kioti or TYM had had AC in their cabs for 25hp versions I would have thought hard about it

With that said I will say this about Kioti, TYM and others alike. As a base package and looking at basic specs, they spec very well in comparison to the big boys, and their initial price points are very good considering what you are getting. Now what changes the game some and is some what smoke in mirrors in the off brands is how they advertise pricing and what pricing actually is after you look at financing adding attachments etc. Also on the off brands for TYM example you had to add the step to get into the tractor, telescoping 3 point standard on my 2650 but not the TYM model or the Kioti I was looking at. Again Kioti was very close to be bought by me or a TYM, but once you added everything and looked financing etc the cost to the kubota was much closer than originally thought.

One thing I have noticed is after a brand like Kioti is more firmly established with a larger dealer network and the brand name recognition is higher than the "initial push" into the market, the prices start to creep up relative to the old established brands. Or the pricing stays near the same but the added in "free" equipment level starts to fall off. I got in while the "getting was good" on my Kioti. A great price point with great features.

Interesting point. I sort of did the same with my L3301. I just happened to be driving down the road when I saw it sitting there as the dealer had literally just finished putting it together out of the crate. When I told him I would write him a check that minute the price got dramatically better... They delivered it that afternoon.

You might want to have your 5 year old proofread your posts for misused and missing words before calling other people simple minded.

We did for sure. Standard was rear remote, telescoping arms, cruise,, rear 3 point adjust, electric over hydraulic pto and 4 wheel drive, rubber pad, 2 rear fender handles and 2700 lbs of lift. Man what a beast! I am so happy I talked to James and Island tractor and others before buying!

Bought my first tractor ever this spring, Kioti CK3510 SE hydrostatic. I love it. Drove the Kubota l2501 and l3301 at the dealer and seemed comparable. As an engineer I bought off superior specs vs price (SE features plus 2HP plus all the other items discussed above all for $2k less than plain 3301 hydrostat).

The 3 point is jerky. Yes it is. So what? Pull up 1 point higher than required, deal with the jerkiness, drop it down to the level I want (flow restriction set slow enough that it drops very smoothly). FEL is a bit jerky too, could be operator error.

I probably would have been happy with a 3301 had I not read the specs and the features of a Kioti SE. As a newbie I cannot imagine NOT having telescoping arms, etc.

As for TBN I was steered away from Kioti as a so called new brand. I found out it has been in the US for 30 years or so; from the way most TBN posters talk I was expecting 30 months or so. 30 years is more than I probably have left to worry about.

Finally, I wanted to buy used but could not match features plus warranty plus known new condition for anything I could find used. Part of that was I could not find ANY used kiotis so the comparable Kubotas were then really overpriced - buy a better spec brand new machine for the same price just different shade of orange. So either kiotis have sold almost Zero machines in north Texas (highly unlikely since I know several owners and went partially by their recommendations) or Kioti owners keep them forever
