Just so everyone knows, I don't hold any animus against Kubota tractors. My only point was that new guys often make comparisons that are not valid between brands. Yes my L3400 had a "jerky" 3pt like all L3400's have. Yes Kubota makes these tractors to a weight and price point. They are very popular tractors for these reasons. The Regional Kubota rep was actually right when he told me "if you wanted a 3pt like a Grand L you should have bought a Grand L" There is a REASON they make Grand L's and it isn't just "bells and whistles".
Grand L's are their premium line of tractors costing thousands of dollars more than so called "standard" L's. But if you buy a Standard L and think you are somehow getting a better bargain and only missing "bells and whistles" you are fooling yourself. If you are satisfied with a lighter tractor, with a 3pt that is not as smooth as it could be with lift capacities that are not as high, and with not as many features that make hitching up as easy, and without standard SSQA (an option on most), no standard remotes, and made to a price point more in line with your budget, then that is great. Both you are Kubota corporation are satisfied.
As for other emerging brands of tractors like my Kioti and LS etc, these tractors may be made in countries with wages lower than Japan, and also have aggressive marketing campaigns to try to win some market share away from the two big players in the compact tractor market here in North America, John Deere and Kubota. So yes you can buy "more tractor" for "less money" as compared to those two. Of course the dealer network even now is not as near as extensive as Deere and Kubota. Although my local dealer for Kioti is large and has an extensive selection on their lots. My current tractor was sold in the price range of a Standard Kubota L tractor and has features near that of the Grand L series.
One feature missing from my Kioti from a Grand L is the Grand L's excellent HST+ transmission. If you don't know what that is or the features it brings to the table, you can google it or see it in action on you-tube. Again no standard L has a HST+ transmission either. There are trade off's in any tractor buying decision. If you would like to know more of my knowledge of tractors, just ask me!
I am willing to share...
