I got another load of paid to haul off wood. They even cut most of it and helped load it. IMG_7422.JPG

Nice. Only down side to tree company firewood is they do not (sometimes cannot) cut to a uniform length.

Most tree guy wood is astoundingly terrible. I’ve about got this crew trained to cut useable firewood. It’s still probably plus or mini 4” but that’s good enough.

We burned a couple of sticks of white pine in the fireplace last night, from the huge tree that we had cut up in the spring and stacked. It seemed dry enough and was very light, and seem to burn OK with no “sizzle“.

Do you think it will be OK to burn this winter? We are not looking for BTUs, just ambience.

Pine dries fast, especially if you split it. We often used to cut wood in August to burn that winter, and it seems like we would cut gray birch in October to burn in fall and spring fires.

I figure tree guys are mostly taking trees down because they are diseased, rotted or a danger tree, much of which is going to yield some marginal wood. But the majority of it is often still good.
