Some places (maybe harbor freight or NAPA) carry a special pair of pliers especially for crimping hoses, they kind of look like a cross between vice grips & small needle nose pliers, they have flat pads instead of teeth that just gently pinch the hose shut, but no sharp edges to puncture the hose. I bought a pair & thought i'd only use them once, but I use them a lot more often than I thought.

Good tip, I'll put that on my radar....

Any chance you have sweetgum up there?
I think he's in a sugar free zone..........

I was in the driveshed tonight. The whole shed smells of that stuff. Kind of like apple, but not quite. I had thoughts that it would have made furniture wood, but am telling myself that it wasn't straight enough.

To me it looks like swamp maple on the inside and basswood on the out side, basswood is a soft hardwood. I'm not sure but I think basswood sells for $1,000.00/8' log if it's been sitting for two years.

He's the guy who dont mind hauling 1.3-1.5 cord of wood a hair over 29 miles for $200.00.......

That’s top dollar for it here. How much is other fuels in your area? I think even at that rate it’s a loosing proposition for the buyer compared to natural gas.

By the looks of the wood it is cut up non to soon. Looks like maple of some sort.

Agreed it looks like maple. My experience is maple goes to crap really fast.

I cut up a hunk of Water Maple a while back that was surprisingly heavy, even after I'd been messing with Red Oak, Locust and Hickory.

Nice video. I meant your tractor. Would you say its wood gathering see's most of its use? The little tractor I have is 21 hp at the pto, would it run that winch. 28hp engine horsepower, hydrostatic. I will get a winch, still think about it often, but Just getting the garage up finally, and house in the spring I'm hoping.

I take tourist moosehunting, though thinking of getting out of it. I'm in partnership with my brother and the stress is quite a bit. I see mostly 300 win mags etc. 7mm, 30-06, 270's. 338's. One guy comes up with a 338 lapua, he has taken moose over 900 yards with it.

I do to nowadays, that way there less rules and regulations to remember, probably 10,000 acres behind my house with discontinued dirt roads, a big gravel pit and three deer.....

10,000 acres , and three deer?? They must be biguns..

One time when I was scrounging for some easy quick wood I unknowingly put some Bass Wood in the wood shed. It was the heft of average hard wood, like Red Maple, going into the shed but after it dried and going into the stove it was the heft of Balsa Wood. Not much heat in it at all. The end grain had a waxy yellowish look to it. Back in the days of yore the guys in the pattern/model shop used Bass Wood a lot.
