I cut, load, dump, split, stack, load again, dump at house, stack, load in wood cart, roll inside and finally burn.

I cut to 8' -10' logs, then usually use log arch to move logs up to splitter, then cut to 18", then load onto splitter, stack right into IBC totes to dry, then move tote with loader to basement door, then bring in a wheelbarrow at a time & stack inside.

With a grapple I could speed it up a bit, (it's on the Christmas list) & I want to build a feed table next to the splitter, so logs get cut right onto table from grapple, then rolled off onto splitter, eliminating picking them up by hand. Kind of like the table Rustyiron built..

Hunt looking at your mill made me think about my log "table" I just built.
I know there's no tractor in the pic but I do load full logs on it with the tractor.

I also bought some furniture dollies that I will make into rolling wood bins so I load them from the totes, roll inside, then don't have to restack inside, just leave in the bins. I built a tall one for my father in law before he passed. My MIL wont run the wood stove, so I may have to reclaim that bin.

I also love my hand log tongs, so much easier moving short logs to the splitter.

That’s what I used to do but I decided it was easier to cut to firewood length right where they fall unless it’s in the woods.

Last load of logs from my little project out back, ended up with 40 logs for my little mill, 8s,10s,12s,and 16s. Should be good for a while anyway.. And a Wild purple passion flower.

Almost all of my firewood comes from down in the woods, I've tried bringing the splitter into the woods, less mess, but more (slower) trips with the tractor than the 4 wheeler (faster)

I believe it depends on the state in which you reside. I never drive to hunt, just walk out the back door... and I'm hunting!

I do to nowadays, that way there less rules and regulations to remember, probably 10,000 acres behind my house with discontinued dirt roads, a big gravel pit and three deer.....

I've gone to stacking mine and then ratchet strapping the bundle to control some of that twisting . Harbor freight has packs of ratchet straps on sale for $6.99 all the time. When I first started milling my own wood about a year and a half ago I remember seeing pics of people with cinder blocks and anything else heavy on their piles.. I thought there better be a better way.

 I got to start doing that to, got to better then nothing..........

I've never ruined a fuel line pinching it with needle nose vise grips. Just adjust them so they "just shut off the fuel"...

Top rifle is 22 Win mag., the other two are LR's...

SR

All you shoot is 22's good grief what would John Wayne think................
