Realistically it is hard to imagine exactly what type of legislation they may be able to get passed...the next national election will be telling...

There is little doubt that they will amend the background requirements which will eliminate unrecorded private sales of "certain firearms" and accessories etc...creating a complete firearm registry is logistically not realistic...

Something they can do is add restrictions to certain ammo purchases...i.e., if a person is buying particular ammunition that fits a particular (i.e., cal etc.) description you could possibly be required to show proof of ownership of the firearms that use said ammo...

All that sounds great, the only problem is it's only hurting the honest person.

You just don't seem to get it...it's about acting...they HAVE to do something it's only a matter of time...

Comprehensive background check control reform will have to involve both social media activity, medical records and disorder disclosures in order to be effective...anyone with more than a couple of working brain cells knows anything else is just for show...but they have to do something and every multiple shooting outside of inner cities just adds gas to the fire...

IMO every shooting and firearm enthusiast should be supportive of anything (new legislation) that could possibly prevent another kook from going postal somewhere but it WILL require giving up some privacy rights etc...there is really no other rational way...

Do you know how bad the drug problem is in the US? Drugs take money to buy, money makes people do stupid stuff. Drugs make people do stupid stuff to get more money to buy more drugs. Guns will always be a problem in the US. There are simply too many out there for them all to be accounted for.

People change, honest man buys a gun from a store. He has a paper trail. He looses his job, his wife cheats on him, he goes nuts. Will that paper trail stop him from doing something stupid? Absolutely not.

Look at Chicago, guns are illegal there. What's the murder rate with guns there?

"assault status" was just an example...( a way of classifying etc...) maybe they will name it something like " Blitz capable"...it's all conjecture on my part at this stage...other than being able to see the writing on the wall...

More and more stores and restaurant chains are not allowing customers to CC in their places of business...
How long will it be before an innocent person is killed in a cross fire between a thug and a well meaning (but ill trained) armed citizen?...concealed carry safety classes are not tactical training courses...

These places that keep restricting guns in their place of business, how long do you think it will be before something happens and they are sued because someone couldn't defend themselves?

I think it's crazy a place that sells firearms ask people not to carry.
