GC1705 with Piranha bar.

I got my Piranha bar mounted today but just hit a few very small bushes for a quick try out. I am gonna buy a inexpensive 3pt receiver hitch and build a weight box before I do any heavy lifting.
Check out heavyhitch.com. They sell 3pt 2" receiver hitches that have weight bars on it. It's a nice dual purpose item. If you search TractorTimeWithTim on YouTube he uses one all the time when not using rear engaging implements in his projects. Buying or building, I think it's what your looking for

I have been using my Piranha for both brush clearing and getting under some rocky soil. I found the PB was great for getting through two sections with 6-9 inch rocks embedded where my bucket would just hit and I would have to dig under each rock. So the bar saved me an hour or two of work.
For the brush, I was able to take out a 20x20 foot section coming from 2 sides in about 20 minutes. Only thing is I have some real rubbery vines that break about a foot from the soil, need to figure out how to get the bar under these without moving too much soil (on a slope).

No damage to a tooth on the bar, moving that rock? When I was clearing some stuff a little bit ago, I was worried about damaging the teeth on the ratchet rake when moving a boulder, so used the backhoe bucket for that instead.

No damage at all, not even a mark.

I had to get some tuff roots out and I just angled the bucket and pushed it under the root and curl the bucket up, kinda like using a spade shovel, works good.

Did not get to the city today to buy a Land Rake so will see what happens tomorrow, still do not know if I should get a 60 inch or go with a 72 inch? If I go 72 I can just angle it to go down 4 foot paths but with the 60 I do not have to angle it, if I upgrade my tractor to a CUT I am sure I would want a 72 inch Land Rake but that is a couple years away.

Would the 72 be the right one to get and then be done? My gravel driveway is only 10 feet wide that is why the 60 is more inviting to me but I know I can just again angle the 72 inch and still keep a crown on the driveway.

Decisions Decisions Hmmmmmm.

I have their factory mount thumb on my CB65... fantastic piece of hardware! Much beefier than the OEM thumb as well!
