Engine Oil for NH TZ25DA

I don't think you can get 0w30 in other than synthetic. Non synthetic is probably 10w30. Myself, now that I'm out of the "free" Castrol 5w30 diesel oil I got with VW $, I plan to get M1 0w30 ESP (exhaust system protection) online in the future. Do it only every other year vs. every year with dino oil. Saves ME effort.

Sure, it works but not as well as 0w30 would to get lubrication immediately to the upper valve train @ -25 F. I'll bet it takes a good 30 seconds or so @ -25 F for the oil pump to start pumping oil to the upper valve train (or anything else). You just don't know, but that is what is happening.

No. Please reread post #2 about API Categories. You need to do some research to determine what the engine manufacturer requires as far as API Category (CC, CD... CK4).

And what choices will you have in the market today? Probably only CJ-4 and CK-4.
That kind of make API rating a moot point other than getting a diesel rated oil.

nasonjo, 0W-30 oil is fine and you can use it year round.

You are correct. I probably should have just said shop for a CK4 diesel oil, but really anyone who professes to be concerned about what oil they are using should understand the ratings and manufacturer requirements.
For the record, 5 minutes of research reveals that current Ambra fluids are in fact API CK4 rated, and recommended by New Holland for all their equipment, legacy and current production.

Thanks guys. Wish the manual had better/more info. It’s not too easy to find out there. Just need a good oil that won’t do harm to my engine.

I think you will be fine with a middle of the road viscosity diesel oil. I ran my NH TC33D 19 years on the 10w40 viscosity and never had a issue.

According to the manual my TC40DA and Boomer 8N came from the factory with 10W-30 which is good for -10 F to 120 F. Mine average 25 hours a year so I just buy the Ambra at the dealer. For me trying to save a few dollars every couple of years is not worth it. I never had a oil related issue.
