B-17 Lost at CT Airport

Most late model hydraulic cranes have load sensing modules built into the operators station that continuously calculate load weight versus stick layout and when the angle gets too flat, they warn the operating engineer of an impending, whoops.

Years ago I witnessed a lattice crane in Cleveland lose a a load. They were dismantling a bridge, the crane was tied into a section with wire rope slings and the demo guys were cutting away. The section came loose and the crane did a nosedive and I bet the operator put a load in his pants. He went from horizontal in the cab to looking at the ground, close up and personal. He has his stick out pretty far too.

Got a few pics of Nine O Nine when the foundation was up here for Warbirds over the West back in June. I'm between KSLE and KMMV which houses the Evergreen Air Museum so when they make their revenue runs they are often nearly directly overhead at 1000" agl

The news piece wasn't all over that, so I assumed that wasn't the case.

Saw the plane a few months ago when it was here in IN. Sure was a beauty. Rather sad to see it up in flames. Never good to see/hear about fatalities as well.

SO, it crashed into this fuel storage area? A lot of talk and not much information. The pictures almost suggest a fueling incident, as there isn't evidence of a horrific crash.

And it was so hard for the news people to get those facts? No wonder, those de-icing tanks did not go up.
