The sad thing is, in Indiana, all he'd have to do is remove the bait for 10 days and then it's legal. Some people don't understand or don't care that the deer belong to everyone in the state, not just them.

Or, as dasranger's post #20 touches on, they could just locate a series of bait like bread crumbs, but far enough away to not be associated with the bait. Watching how 3 to 5 does include my apple tree in their daily routes during late summer makes me think he's right.

I have less issue with someone hunting to feed themselves (with little waste) , regardless of laws, than someone that does it legally for "FUN".

so hunting for the pleasure of just hunting is no good to you?

That's your opinion and you are entitled to it. Please allow me to point out however, that even the so called trophy hunting which makes the news often is putting food on people's tables and money in their pocket.

What is sad is the places that are so abundant with deer...some hunters take them for granted and harvest many deer where just the choice meat is kept and the rest given to dogs etc...

The only time that I ever seriously considered calling the "Game Theft" number, I was working and came across a pile of several does which and been shot and the hind quarters removed... except for one which they apparently just shot and dumped. If you're going to kill an animal, don't waste it.

It's bow season in Indiana now. The land next to me has changed hands and someone put up a deer stand over there a few feet off of me. Noticed that below their tree is a pile of corn. Is that legal?

Don't you just love it when a slob hunter put a stand a 'few feet' off your property Like they don't know, like they won't shoot into your property, like they will adhere to ethical hunting... No to all and yes baiting in Indiana is illegal, just like it is here in Michigan. Think I'd call the IDNR and report them too. DNR officers love that stuff., love to bust them.

I really dislike slob hunters. You know the type, litterbugs, beer can tossers and put a stand almost (but not quite) on a property line.

I’m not claiming it’s right and I’ve never done it but the deer are abundant ( over run in places) and the dogs have to eat too.
