What happened to Soundguy?

It's always been made pretty clear the PTs aren't good for ground engaging/pulling tasks like a disk, dirt plow, stump pulling. They do make several sizes of tillers, power rakes, and fertilizer/salt spreaders.

This wasn't a gotcha post or anything, I really was curious. Since I do use my tractor for more than just mowing or related tasks. I do use ground engaging equipment to plant and garden and I just couldn't imagine it working much any way than reverse and a tiller type attachment. And I couldn't imagine running around in reverse turned half way in the seat for hours.

I will click the links provided as I am curious of what they have.

One other thing I just thought of, with those being gas motors, probably the larger V models they make how much fuel does it use? I know my Zero turn mower drinks fuel. It will use about 5 gallons to cut around 2.5 acres. Now I don't cut this weekly so it's taller than a normal yard but cut several times a summer and not overly tall. It has a 22HP motor. Contrast that with my Yanmar with a 24 hp diesel. I can cut easily 2x the acres on half the fuel out of my tractor and that's for grass that needs bush hogging and not lawn mowering.

Heck as rScotty says everybody needs more than one tractor, per him 3 is about right.

I wish I had more covered storage space for a Powertrac or small articulated European tractor. The little Yanmar - that I use mostly - lives in what was once Grandma's chicken coop. Building more structures here would break up the orchard rows and I'm not going to do that.

Thread drift? What's that?

Do they have those metal carport things out there? We can get them here that are big enough for two cars installed on your property for like $700, your choice of color.

How big of storage building do you need that would disrupt an orchard??

I am just about decided to get one like you described.

I bought HF's 20x20 tarp shed and replaced its $50 canvas about every 18 months but ran out of patience with that. One like you describe is what I need.

But having anything there does break up discing and spraying in a straight line down the row it interrupts. Here are a couple of pix when it was intact. And one after the most recent HF replacement tarp lasted less than a year. I gave up replacing the tarps after that.

My wife and I never had a budget. We just kinda knew what we had, where we were investing it, saving it, spending it, etc... kinda like-minded, so never had to worry about who was spending what, where. We always discussed purchases over $50 (back then) and now stuff over $100 before making the purchase.

Spoken by someone who has never been married to a stubborn mule

My wife and I are like minded on everything except money. I am a penny pincher, she can’t be bothered with pennies.

Little trick I learned courtesy of Farm Tek when my wife and I erected our 48 foot wide x 17 foot high x 100 feet long Clearspan truss arch building (it's a fabric cover as well and has been up over 15 years now, I use it for hay storage and keep the tractors and implements inside).... Tape all the joints where the fabric touches the metal with high quality DUCT TAPE, i mean every joint and keep the top fiddle string tight at all times. Gorilla Tape is recommended by me and them...

The picture is my tractors inside in the back with some rounds but it gives you the idea anyway....
