Absolutely. Agree. The orig postor was screwed by several things: 1) failure to ask the cost in advance 2) doing everything the manual suggested to do at any number of hours, 50 or otherwise, and 3) not taking the approach others mentioned of doing a lot of routine maint themselves. We all have differing constraints, money in our pockets and "ways of doing things." If someone wants to go the blank check route, it is a little late to complain when the bill arrives. Others have the established habit (maybe with lots of equipment, in debt to their ears already, etc.) of going by the manual no matter how silly or overboard it happens to be. Maybe they have found that is 'best' for them in their long experience. I'm NOT one of those.
On the topic of guarantees, one needs to use judgement as to what if anything is going to fail during the (relatively short) guarantee period because you failed to do it. In my view you are more protecting yourself if you plan to keep the machine to high hours, NOT trying to preserve some warrantee. Very few things on a recommended maint schedule will void a warrantee.
