I've got a 2019 M7060 and WSM 50 hours is engine oil and filter, hydraulic filter change but not the oil, grease, inspect, check air filter, tighten bolts. Nothing really till 200 hours

M9960 owner's manual specifies hydraulic/transmission to be changed at 50 hours. Would certainly expect 7060 to be the same.

SDT

I've looked twice now in the manual and there is nothing stated about tranny oil. Engine oil, wheel nut torque and looking over a few other things and that's it.

I did a full service myself on my used M6040 when I bought it; fluids. filters, engine oil, lube etc, all materials came in at a tick over $500.

Just had my 50 hour service done by kubota dealer I purchased from. I told him to do the 50 hour service and sharpen rotary cutter blades. I was shocked when the service manager told me it was $1100. I asked what they did and he said they changed all fluids and filters. He said this was to honor any future warranty claims.

I think this is total BS and just a way to make more money. I was born at night but not last night. It honestly soured me.

What do you think?

I think before I left my tractor with a blank check, I would have asked how much it is going to be.

I just bought all the fluids/filters for my 50 hr service on a L3301 this past week. $130.00.
The Kubota dealer charges $105/hr so I could see $1100 charge for a larger tractor which included the labor to sharpen the blades on a rotary cutter.

You will lose some transmission fluid when changing the transmission filter. I bought a gallon of the HST fluid to prepare my self for the 50 hr service.

Absolutely. Agree. The orig postor was screwed by several things: 1) failure to ask the cost in advance 2) doing everything the manual suggested to do at any number of hours, 50 or otherwise, and 3) not taking the approach others mentioned of doing a lot of routine maint themselves. We all have differing constraints, money in our pockets and "ways of doing things." If someone wants to go the blank check route, it is a little late to complain when the bill arrives. Others have the established habit (maybe with lots of equipment, in debt to their ears already, etc.) of going by the manual no matter how silly or overboard it happens to be. Maybe they have found that is 'best' for them in their long experience. I'm NOT one of those.
On the topic of guarantees, one needs to use judgement as to what if anything is going to fail during the (relatively short) guarantee period because you failed to do it. In my view you are more protecting yourself if you plan to keep the machine to high hours, NOT trying to preserve some warrantee. Very few things on a recommended maint schedule will void a warrantee.

Before jumping to conclusions, let me clarify. I did inquire about services and fees prior to service. I was never told all fluids nor was I told $1100. My mistake was not getting it in writing. Had I known this would have been the outcome, I can guarantee I would have taken a different approach. Lesson learned and it won’t happen again.
