An easier way to refuel your tractor

Sure do. Not a huge issue with diesel but a big issue with gasoline. Always keep the fuel nozzle in physical contact with the fuel can and always fill it on the ground, nit in your trunk or on the bed of your pickup truck. Liquid in motion (fuel) generates static electricity when flowing. Why fuel tankers have a static strap.

And why the fuel trucks at airports attach a ground cable before attaching the fuel line to the aircraft.

^^^^^^^^^^^Thats so the airplane wont take during fueling...........

Does diesel fuel go bad and or how long is it good for?
My son just got a good used 250 gal fuel barrel last week, wants me to have off-road fuel delivered in that so we dont have bother taking my 30 gal barrel up the store that is only 5 mi away, maybe twice a year. 250 gal of fuel for me is enough for 4-5 years at current use, sounds like if I do that then I need to add some sort of diesel fuel preserver. Then there's the initial cost of 250 gal, right now ORF is at the store is $2.81/gal, that a big ouch if delivered at that price compared to going up the store with a 30 gal barrel.

I would not do it.
Lots of condensation will form in that always less than full 250 gallon tank through the Maine seasonal changes.

I agree..

I agree as well. I have a 500 gallon bulk diesel tank on the farm and I keep it no less than half full at all times plus I add a bio-cide regularly. If I had it do do again I'd just use my truck tank (100 gallons). Other issue with a bulk tank is, you need to drain the 'crud' off the bottom regularly too.

You run a bulk tank down, you get condensation in any climate where the temp isn't steady and water makes goo in diesel.

I agree as well. Not at your usage.

The input was about what I expected except for the water making goo part, condensation I didn't think of, I dont want goo 3 years down the road or drain/wash barrel. I'd consider 250 gal if I used it up in 1 year but right now my 30 gal barrel was filled back in May , still 3/4 full. For the past few years my high usage has been in the winter time, so the way it's going now this fuel will go right into spring.

You have a better picture of avatar?
The last one was a blue heron on my dock. This one is a bald eagle taking off. He* was having lunch of some sort on the railing prior to taking flight. I only have my phone to take pictures with so the pictures are quite grainy.

*considering the size it might have been a she. Females are larger than males in bald eagles.
