About to buy a CK2610HST for plowing snow among other uses and will need euro chains for steep driveway.
Are there any clearance problems with fitting chains on all four tires?

Thanks for the link to that thread. From that, the clearance was measured at 1-5/8" in unfilled R-4's. Mine will definitely be filled, but not sure if that lessens the clearance. Has anyone made chains work?

My CK27HST rears had enough clearance. on the fronts I had to remove the tierod guards

R4's on my 3510se, and there's definitely not enough room for chains. I don't have an exact measurement for you, but that 1 5/8 sounds about right. My tires are filled. I also have a fairly steep driveway, but I didn't have any major issues last year without chains. The couple big storms we got, I just hooked up an implement for extra weight on the back. Backhoe worked best, but 450lb box blade worked pretty good too, with the added benefit of being able to move snow with it as well.

I'm the original poster at the link, and as with most such data the clearance should be taken with a grain of salt. I do believe it's close though. To your question about filled vs unfilled tires, I would guess that given they are filled to about 2/3, and if filled to the same pressure, it seems you'd have a larger contact patch but the clearance at the top of the tire would remain relatively unchanged. That's my guess anyway.

As an aside I just ordered the European net reinforced yesterday from tirechains.com for my R1 tires, as I wanted something good on ice and forgiving on asphalt. Now that I got off my duff and ordered them at more $$ than I wanted to spend, I can be guaranteed no snow in the PNW. I have a very steep drive (grandson turned his car over on it last Christmas on ice) and will be repaved soon, so don't want to rip it up as the drive is shared with the neighbor. I definitely had my Ford 1700 without ROPS and R1's sliding on it a number of times, so the chains should help a lot.

I have seen posts about wheel spacers and including why are they so expensive. Why don't you see if you can get them installed with your R4's as part of your purchase, while you have buying leverage? A wider wheel base would seem an advantage on a steep snow drive. Just at thought, Dean

On one of my tractors I had about 2 1/4" inches of clearance,
it was just a bit small every once in a while you would hear the side chain fastner click as it rotated.
Mine have been set to the next wider position which gices me about 4 1/2" I don't anticipate anymore contact.

With the R1 tire option I would expect that your rims are adjustable.

I thought you have R4 tires? Are you sure chains for R1 tires are the same? Arnt R4s wider?

I talked with the dealer I bought the tractor from and he tells me they are putting chains on that model with the R-4 tires. So, I went ahead and bought the Euro style chains from Windy Ridge Corp. in Tamworth, NH.

I don't believe there will be any room left, but I'll be trudging about as slow as that tractor will go anyway. My driveway is single lane, 400' long and if I rush, the fun will end too soon!

I will report back the results.

I’m also looking at chains for a CK2610 with R4’s , and I’m also in NH. I bought my machine at Concord Tractor and they told me that they recommend the OFA chains. I know windy ridge sells OFA so I’m wondering which chains they set you up with? Any particulars you could share would be great.
