By the way, have you given ALL that you have to the government? A true lefty would not have so much as one tractor because the value of said tractor could be given to those living on the street doing drugs. You have a number of Kubotas that could fetch a nice sum. That money could buy a lot of drugs for the homelsss in LA, New York or wherever you choose.

Your neighbors will demand that you forfeit everything tied to that tax bill. Your neighbors paid their taxes. They'll expect absolutely nothing less from you and demand that you be severely penalized.

I don't see it that way at all. If I am stupid enough to let the government auction off my assets then they deserve the excess. Just as I would expect the government to come after me for the shortfall if the auction doesn't cover the tax bill.

Why if you were stupid would the government deserve the excess? Why should the government take unfair advantage of stupid people?

When I built up my fixed assets, particularly my $300K house I agreed to pay taxes at the required rate. If I didn't want to pay those taxes I should have never accumulated those assets. But I agreed to pay.

So, I don't fulfill my part of the agreement. I shortchange the government $8.95 for some reason. Not sure why. Must have been absolute stupidity on my part. Absolute stupidity.

The government notifies me of this shortfall repeatedly. I ignore them. What are they gonna do about it? Come after the money?

They come after the money. I still display immeasurable stupidity. They legally take my $300K house. My Absolute Stupidity just cost me $299,991.05.

In that scenario the government has no business profiting from your stupidity. There are many people who might have suffered a stroke or are suffering from dementia or whatever that might not understand what is going on. To take the full value of the property is socialism for lack of any better description.

My point is it's OK to give some back when good fortune smiles upon you.
