There are several ways of getting logs out of water, wait for low tide, use fishing pole, use row boat, put swimming trunks on and or offer a nickel to someone from NC and tell them it's a swimming pool..............

I致e not seen a pond with high and low tides, must only be in your neck of the woods I guess. People in NC like nickels?

On my mid size square tubing forks, 2x2" X 2-1/2'-ish long, I have 4 of them spaced equally-ish, then clamped a 1/4"x 4"x 5' flat bar across the front tips with 1/2" bolts, it keeps trees/logs going in-between forks. The flat bar has special fitted welded on pockets that fit the tips of all 4 forks.

Welcome, sometimes one idea can lead to another idea or improve it. That might be one reason for some buying grapples but I cant afford it.........

IF, they are floating, I use one of these,

IF, they are sunk, I use one of these,

Which leads me to a curious question, how long does it take for a log to sink and where did you get the tongs?

The BIG pond in front of my house has high and low tides, a 16 foot difference.

Amazed me when I first experienced... water would be lapping at the dock and a few hours later the dock would be high and dry... and in 12-13 feet clear...

This is the same little inlet with salt water where some tall firs went down and took out the floating part of the dock... neighbor asked if I had plans and I didn't so he floated them to his place with the tide and used a block and tackle with his old truck to pull out sections... said it was a winters worth of clear Doug Fir... just the right size for his stove...

WHAT A STUD
Yep, that's what I need is some more 2x4 studs, so here is where I get them... not Lowes!

This is how "I" do it..
First cut a cant out of a log



Slice into slabs.


Stand those slabs up


Slice them up


And put on a skid, strap them own to keep them straight... mostly!
