,,they actually make steel pistons which have the added benefit of a closer relationship of the expansion rate of block and piston.

I wonder if a hypereutectic piston would work in that high compression environment. They are high silicone and dont 'grow' as bad as typical cast/forged stuff. We've built some race engines using them and the clearance is a bit different on finish hone, just have to pay attention to clearances so you dont kiss a valve, they are more brittle.

Is the rebuild complete and tractor operational?

It would be worth having a summary of all the issues being encountered in one post.

I'm not sure I would throw the baby out with the bath water.

I bought a Kubota (my first ever tractor) after months of research and dealer support.

The baby is dead. It runs just like it did new, all the services are up, all new fluids, filters, pistons, valve job, seals and gaskets. New alternator and A/C belt, A/C charged, timing checked on all cylinders, glow plugs checked and fine. For sale now or in the Spring, I need it to blow snow with.

3 factory remotes, third function front, 75 inch blower with custom adjustable hydraulic wheels from the cab and 6 new hydraulic hoses IMGP0256.JPGIMGP0255.JPGIMGP0254.JPGIMGP0253.JPG, 8 foot Boss straight blade with hydraulic angle with custom frame from 1/2" steel that fits any 40 L series. R4s (suck), Aqualine Talon chains on rears and cheap truck chains on fronts.

Rear view camera, integrated garage door opener. New updated HST input shaft and housing, new FWD shaft and double sealed ( I removed the collar and added a second seal).

$1800 in parts alone not including SUDT 2 oil change. Buyer can have all the spare filters, parts, paint, chain accesories. Oh and no more oil leaks.

I hate the tractor, I hate the blower, I hate Kubota period. Don't consider this a classified add, it isn't.

Welp! I guess Kubota needs to fold up shop and stop selling tractors.

I recommended that an institutional customer by an L series Cabbed tractor with front blower. They HATE it too. Underpowered and underbuilt for that level of service. It's a light duty, home owner tractor. Who knows, maybe the L stands for light.

Just bought my 250 hour 2006 Kubota L48 TLB back in June.
It is in Winter storage now.
Haven't used it yet.
Am I going to learn to hate it?

I don't think so. I think my deal is a few different dislikes.

1) 5500 lbs. and 39 hp. on a very steep driveway equals little work getting accomplished.

2) R4s, again on a very steep driveway, these tires are pure garbage on any snow; in fact downright dangerous.

3) My snowblower only shoots snow 20 feet or so, not acceptable to me. I want to shoot snow 80 feet plus to get it gone.

Pretty much my 3 big complaints.

I think the L48 is in a different class. It is a small piece of construction equipment.

Don't get me wrong, Kubota is my first choice in Engines and small construction equipment, but I think the (what has become) consumer offerings are built to a particular market.

My Brother had a L3240. I absolutely hated it. Most under powered tractor I've ever ran. All it did was frustrate me.

I believe Fred to be a bit on the edge. I totally understand his dislikes of his tractor. I'm not quite sure the Brand is the problem, probably could find that problem in other brands.

I'm hoping he finds the tractor that suits him. He's a HP junkie. So am I.
