I'm curious what the stock ring land width is and what they measure now. Is there any chance they are setup with this much clearance from the factory?

Also curious if they run a bit more ring end gap on turbo motors.

I couldn't find any difference in the specs for turbo and non-turbo with respect to ring gap or clearance.

Did find it interesting the top ring clearance was omitted from the specifications in two different places within the WSM.

Here's what I need, steel ring land for top ring.

This is what happens when you over fuel and boost an engine not designed for it. The wastegate is set at 6.5 pounds (factory).

Looks like I'll replace 4 pistons, rings and remove the turbo then sell it in the Spring because the power will be so bad.

This is why they say buyer beware folks....

No offense Fred, but I sure hope I'm the not the guy that buys your used tractor that you seriously abused. In fact, this is the reason I will mostly only buy new items. You really should have just traded it right away when it didn't satisfy your needs. Now some poor young sap will probably buy a used tractor for his first ever huge purchase and be all excited until he realizes he got stuck with a mess.

Buyer beware for sure!

Other than beating it badly while blowing snow it really isn't too bad. There's not any dents, damage other than crap faded paint. The service was done at about 1/2 intervals.

The axle leak problem will be fixed with a new driveshaft and seals and the engine will be tip top shape with new pistons and everything checked properly including injectors.

Hey it'll be tested tough and road ready for the next guy!

Seriously, David. I have a friend who sells Kiotis for a living. He recently took in trade a decent L5740 cab with low hours. He rented it once for a job and it came back with the infamous split pin leak so he had his guys split it and replace all the seals including the one in the front diff.

He wasn't too happy and doesn't want to take these lemons in trade toward an outstanding quality new Kioti:licking: I can't say as I blame him.

From what I have read about The Fred, and his posts, he sounds like he is fairly qualified on building these diesels. Much more than myself.
BUT, I would hope he informs any potential purchaser of this tractor what its life has consisted of!

The Fred has always seemed to be a straight shooter.

No clue about yer neck of the woods, but around here; crooked folk generally can't afford to do much shooting, so they mostly all shoot crooked. Generally when speaking of the crooked, folk swap 'shooter' out for other things like "he's a crooked S o B" or "he's a crooked S--t" and so on...

:D

Maybe straight, should have meant accurate. Or that he isn't using a firearm with a bent barrel. That wouldn't make him very unique, though.

MAYBE, does a lot of shooting in outer space. That would make perfect sense.
