How interesting. Cell phones not hooked to a grid. I can assure you that cell phones are indeed "hooked to a grid". You could not ask for more infrastructure to make a cell phone work. From the fiber optic "grid" feeding the cell towers to the MTSO* back at the central office, to the RF links feeding the actual phone in your pocket, It is all one big "grid". Perhaps the bishops don't understand the technology.

When I said "not hooked to a grid", I meant there was no physical connection, like a telephone or electric pole would have.

Having said that. Years ago many times when driving Menonites around, I had to stop so they could use someone elses hard wired phone. You can't apply common sense and logic to religeous beliefs, I guess.
