An Amish tractor? Say what?

In south west Ohio, the Mennonite could be described as Amish who can use modern things, Amish can not be hooked up to grid but will use generators

Around here the Amish vary greatly on how they live.
Cant understand why pneumatic tires are ok on their bicycles, minivans and trucks but evil on other equipment. They even had steel wheels on their zero turn mower.
They are mostly sellers not producers. A lot of people think its being made or grown by them when they buy the products here.
A friend of mine showed me that the local Amish furniture was the same unfinished furniture he was buying from a wholesaler.

We've got an Amish store near here that is connected to the electric grid, but not to a telephone or internet, so no credit or debit cards. They do have a pay phone outside on the rear of the store and all the Amish living near by walk up there to make their calls.

One of the Amish runs a large dairy herd, his barn is electrified with milkers, coolers and lights, but his house is not.

Several of the farmers raise vegetables and they use gasoline powered roto tillers in the gardens, but do the rest of their ground work with horses.

I guess our Amish are "real"Old Order. No moving motors at all;I.E. tractors,mowers,roto-tillers,cars,trucks ect. They will use stationary motors. No hand held power tools, drills ,saws ect.No telephones of any kind;run to the neighbors in and emergency.
They use open buggy's year-round,we average about a car/buggy crash every other month. They refuse to use SMV sign or decent lights.
No connections to the power grid or telephone.

From the law of averages, one of these days you are going to run out of Amish.

run to the neighbors in and emergency

Hm... wonder if they don't like paying utility bills..... can't blame them for that... I don't much care for utility bills either. :)

If they want to risk their lives in their unlit buggies, I wish they would leave the horses out of their stupidity.

Some here are allowed skid steers but not tractors, so it wasn't uncommon for you to see a bunch of them in the bucket going some place. I saw one pulled over and think the cops cracked down on that practice. But I am curious under what law. No seat belts? lol

From what I was told Ohio is the divide for the old and modern amish. You can tell by how clean and well kept there farms are. Old order you would see stumps where the fell the trees for the farm. New order would have been almost broom swept. Modern times are changing us all including them.

Yep. Change is inevitable. Even for Amish.
